BA-B girls finish sixth at Head of the Charles

Bromfield Acton-Boxborough rowers raced to a sixth place finish at the 53rd annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge Oct. 25. BA-B fielded the varsity girls 4+ with rowers Kamryn Stecyk, Ally Goldsher, Erin Smith, and Anna Shlimak, along with coxswain Cammy Farren, in an 85-crew field.

“Despite extremely challenging conditions, a very strong head wind with gusts up to 40 mph at times, our girls youth 4+ was able to master the three-mile race course with outstanding results,” said Holly Hatton, the girls varsity coach. “The lineup came together only a week ago during a practice session on the Charles River.”

The finish gives BA-B an automatic entry in this event at next year’s Head of the Charles.

On the boys side, Coach Brian DeDominici prioritized the youth 8 with the hope of securing an entry next year, which they did, placing 38th. The boys 4+ finished 79th and the 2x finished 34th.
