The Bromfield boys varsity soccer team tied two and won three games over the course of the past two weeks, adding to its undefeated record in its league.
At their most recent game, played at home on Monday, Oct 17, the Trojans crushed the Gaels of Clinton High School, 10–1. Senior Omar Al-Homsi scored the first goal in the first two minutes. Junior Reilly Fitzsimmons had the next two goals, first by kicking the ball past the Clinton goalie into the left upper corner of the net, and then by heading the ball or a pass from Al-Homsi. When the Gaels struck back and scored off a rebound, the Trojans called a quick timeout and then surged on, even more aggressive and determined than before. Al-Homsi added another goal to the Trojans’ score, and junior Sean Leisure scored to bring the Trojans to 5–1 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, senior center midfielder Colin Grant notched the sixth and seventh goals for the team. As Bromfield dominance and control grew stronger later in the game, Coach Tom Hill sent more second-string players onto the field. Leisure scored the eighth goal for the Trojans, junior Kyle Schoenberg had the ninth, and junior Mischa DeRuijter finished the afternoon with the 10th. Sophomore Charlie Pappas and Grant had the highest number of assists, at three, for the game.

Earlier, last week, on Thursday, Oct. 13, the Trojans faced the Tahanto Stags. They finished the game 1–0 off a goal from senior Alex Lee. On Saturday, Oct. 15, the Trojans challenged Groton-Dunstable. Junior Jack Armstrong scored the only goal of the game, while the Crusaders fought back with a rebound off a free kick. The final score was 1–1. Coach Hill commented that Saturday’s game was perhaps the best yet, saying that the Trojans played well against the Crusaders, a challenging opponent.
The Thursday before, on Oct. 6, the Trojans tied against Sutton, 1–1. It was a tough game against a difficult opponent, and according to Coach Hill, one whom the Trojans could also face later in the district tournament. The Trojans went on to trample Lunenburg the following day, Friday, Oct. 7, with a score of 6-0.
The Trojans’ overall record now stands at 10–0–3, and their league record is 8–0.
