Vintage movie at Hildreth House
On Tuesday, May 10, at 1 p.m. see a vintage classic movie from the 1930s or 1940s with actors such as Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, or Bette Davis. Sign up for lunch, then see the movie on the COA’s big-screen TV.
Blaze a trail!
The 2016 Older Americans Month theme, “Blaze a Trail,” emphasizes the ways older adults are reinventing themselves. COA will host a Trailblazer lunch Thursday, May 12, at noon, to celebrate Harvard’s older residents. Seniors are encouraged to share stories of how they redefined age with new hobbies, new careers, or new volunteer activities.
Tax relief applications due May 15
The Elderly and Disabled Tax Aid fund is set up to defray property tax costs for qualifying residents. Applications are due by May 15 and are available through the COA, the town treasurer’s office, or at www.harvard.ma.us.
Songs from Broadway at Indian Hill
Join the COA for a free concert of music from Broadway and beyond at Indian Hill Music Thursday, May 19. The van will leave Hildreth House at 12:45 p.m. and return around 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

- DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Wednesday, June 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. $5. Bring a picnic lunch or purchase lunch at DeCordova’s café.
- Pickity Place, Wednesday, June 15. Bus leaves at 10:30 a.m. and returns around 2:30 p.m. $35 includes a five-course lunch at the Pickity Place cottage in southern New Hampshire. Payment is due by May 16.

Lowell Spinners, Monday, June 20. $35 includes the van ride, a barbecue dinner, and a box seat at the game. Leaves Harvard at 4:45 p.m. and returns at 10 p.m. Payment is due by May 9.
Hildreth House had a packed dining room Friday, April 29, as the COA celebrated its volunteers with a luncheon. At the event COA Director Debbie Thompson presented Selectwoman Lucy Wallace with a symbolic check made out to the Town of Harvard for $41,188.80, the amount the town saved by all the work that volunteers have offered the COA in the past year.
