Tea and cookies at Hildreth House
Learn about life at the turn of the 20th century Wednesday, April 20, 1 to 2 p.m., as “Mrs. Gordon,” a middle-class housewife, serves tea and cookies and shares stories and her latest issue of the Ladies Home Journal.
36th Annual Senior Conference
Join us Thursday, April 21, at Assabet Valley Technical High School in Marlborough for the 36th annual Senior Conference sponsored by Senator Jamie Eldridge. The event provides seniors with information for maintaining healthy, financially secure, and independent lifestyles. Workshops, entertainment, exhibits, prizes, speakers, and free refreshments and lunch are featured. The van will leave Hildreth House at 8 a.m. and return around 2:30 p.m. This event, as well as the van ride, is free.
“Live Your Life Well” workshops
Join other seniors Saturday, April 23, at the Congregational Church, to learn ten proven strategies for living in a healthy, positive, safe, and joyful manner. Workshops will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a luncheon and more workshops from 1 to 3 p.m. This all-day event is free.
Wellness clinic
Come meet Harvard’s town nurse from Nashoba Nursing, Sharon Fata, RN, Tuesday, April 19, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., for a blood pressure check. No appointment needed.
From the COA director
Director Debbie Thompson wants seniors to know that the COA is preparing for Phase I of the Hildreth House accessibility project that will begin this spring. During construction, the COA will be located at the old library but will continue to offer programs, lunches, and events. Also, Thompson encourages everyone to check out the new windows at Hildreth House.
Friends of the COA
The Friends of the Harvard Council on Aging, a 501(c)(3) organization, is the fundraising arm of the COA. Donations made to the Friends are tax-deductible. When you think about charitable giving, please consider making a cash, stock, or mutual funds donation to the Friends. In addition, if you have thought about the legacy you want to leave behind, talk to the Friends about memorial giving.
Musical instruments and lunch at Fruitlands
Phyllis Konop has invited COA members to her home to see and hear her extensive collection of player pianos, Victrolas, and music boxes Wednesday, April 27, at 9:45 a.m. Lunch will follow at the Cafe at Fruitlands Museum.
