Join the Oktoberfest
The Council on Aging will travel to East Hill Farm in Troy, New Hampshire, on Wednesday, Oct. 14, to enjoy authentic German food and a live “Oompah” band. The van will leave Harvard at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $35, including lunch. Registration and payment is required by Sept. 14.
Wellness and podiatry clinics
Town nurse Sharon Fata, RN, from Nashoba Nursing, will be at Hildreth House for free blood pressure checks Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Appointments are not necessary.
A podiatrist will be at Hildreth House Monday, Sept. 21. Call the Council on Aging at 978-456-4120 to schedule an appointment. The fee is $30.
Senior Day at Harvard Farmers’ Market
Saturday, Aug. 22, is Senior Day at the Harvard Farmers’ Market, which takes place from 9 a.m. to noon at Hildreth Elementary School. On this day, there will be something special for anyone over the age of 60. The Council on Aging van will also be available to bring seniors to and from the market so you don’t have to worry about parking. SNAP cards are accepted by some vendors for the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables; signs will be posted. To reserve a spot on the van, call 978-456-4120. The music for the market that day is COA Director Debbie Thompson’s band.
Cool off at Hildreth House
Seniors are reminded that the air-conditioned Hildreth House makes for a cool retreat during the hot days of August. Drop by and chill out.
