This week police made 17 motor vehicle stops, which resulted in seven citations and 10 verbal warnings. The ambulance crew responded to three medical emergencies and took three people to the hospital.
Tuesday, April 7
An Old Littleton Road resident called at 9:48 a.m. seeking permission for an outdoor cooking fire. At 9:55 a.m. police arrested Michael B. Direeno, 44, of Trail Ridge Way, on an outstanding warrant for possession of a dangerous weapon, second offense.

Friday, April 10
Someone called at 10:22 a.m. to report an oil slick in the roadway on West Bare Hill Road. The Fire Department was called to spread SpeedyDry absorbent on it. Police say the source of the oil spill is unknown. At 10:59 a.m. a Bolton Road resident called to report a dog roaming about the area. The call was referred to the animal control officer. At 8:49 p.m. Ayer police called to request the assistance of Harvard officers at a domestic situation in that town.
Saturday, April 11
A Mettacomet Path resident called to report a barking dog in the area. The animal control officer was notified. A caller reported a brush fire on Ann Lees Road at 4:43 p.m., which was subsequently extinguished by the Fire Department. Police say it was a permitted fire that may have gotten out of control. A Stow Road resident called at 6:32 p.m. to report a large black dog in the yard; the caller was referred to the animal control officer. A Shaker Road resident called at 8:35 p.m. with suspicions about a car parked at the end of a neighbor’s driveway. The car was gone when police arrived. At 11:09 p.m. someone stopped at the station seeking information about a restraining order.
Sunday, April 12
A woman called at 8:55 a.m. to report that while she and a friend were walking along Stow Road, a man out for a jog accidentally bumped into one of them. The woman said that after she made a comment to him about it, the man became belligerent. The case is under investigation. At 7:56 p.m. a Murray Lane resident called to report that some youths blocking the end of a neighbor’s driveway might be committing vandalism. Police spoke to the youths and discovered they were out taking pictures.
Monday, April 13
At 9 a.m. police stopped to direct traffic around some Verizon technicians whose presence appeared to be creating a danger on Still River Road. Two women stopped at the station at 10:33 a.m. seeking advice related to a no-trespass order issued against them.
