This week police made 15 motor vehicle stops, which resulted in four citations, 10 verbal warnings, and one arrest. The ambulance crew responded to five medical emergencies and took two people to the hospital. Two cases of fraud and identity theft related to filing tax returns were reported this week, along with an IRS-related phone scam.
Tuesday, April 14
An Oak Hill Road resident called at 9:32 a.m. seeking permission for an outdoor cooking fire. At 10:36 a.m. an officer on patrol who was performing a random license plate check stopped a car on Ayer Road and arrested the driver, Jennifer Lee, 39, of Still River Road, on an outstanding warrant. At 12:52 p.m. a representative of Shaker Hills Golf Course called to notify police that prison inmates in a pre-release program would be working at the golf course over the summer. An Ayer Road resident called at 2:09 p.m. to inform police about a no-trespass notice that had been served to people not welcome on the premises. At 6:30 p.m. a Mass. Ave. resident called for permission to have an outdoor cooking fire.
Wednesday, April 15
At 2:10 p.m. a caller reported a brush fire along Littleton County Road. The Fire Department was dispatched to extinguish the blaze. A Bolton Road resident stopped at the station at 6:14 p.m. to file a report about fraud and identity theft after his accountant informed him that the Internal Revenue Service reported that his tax return had already been filed.
Thursday, April 16
A caller reported at 11:59 a.m. that a tree crew was operating in a hazardous area on South Shaker Road. An officer stood by to direct traffic while the crew completed its work. At 12:52 p.m. Bolton police called for help in investigating bicyclists who were reportedly riding in and out of driveways on Autumn Lane and Still River Road in Bolton. They called shortly afterward to cancel the request. A resident stopped at the station at 12:53 p.m. to report a case of fraud and identity theft, after trying to file his tax return with TurboTax and receiving a message saying it had already been filed. A Brown Road resident called at 2:29 p.m. seeking help with unlocking a door to her house. At 7:30 p.m. a Westcott Road resident called to report receiving an apparent IRS scam telephone call. State police called at 7:36 p.m. to notify Harvard officers that someone had reported a brush fire in the area. The officer who investigated determined that there was a brush fire in progress on the Devens South Post, which was being handled by the Devens Fire Department.
Friday, April 17
An officer on patrol at 11:48 a.m. stopped to investigate a disabled car on Old Shirley Road. The driver told the officer that help was already on the way. A woman called at 3:16 p.m. asking for assistance in retrieving her dog, which had jumped out of the car while it was parked at the library. She called back shortly afterward to report that she was able to get the dog back herself. At 9:36 p.m. officers made an arrest in a domestic incident.
Saturday, April 18
Someone called at 12:44 p.m. to report that she had removed a piece of insulation in the roadway on Stow Road but was concerned that the wind could blow it back. An officer checked it out and found it was far enough off the road to pose no immediate hazard and notified the Department of Public Works to remove it. A woman stopped at the station at 1:57 p.m. to report losing an iPhone at the Transfer Station, but she called later to say she’d found it. At 10:31 p.m. a caller reported that a door was open and a light was on in the boathouse at the town beach. An officer checked the area and secured the building. There had been a boating event at the beach earlier in the day, and the police speculated that someone forgot to close things up afterward.

Monday, April 20
At 9:49 a.m. an Old Littleton Road resident called police to say that she had taken in a stray cat that had been hanging around her house for several days. She said she had already notified the animal control officer. A motorist called at 2:36 p.m. to let police know his car was disabled on Ayer Road, although not in a hazardous location, and that a tow truck was on the way. Someone placed an emergency call at 3:34 p.m. to report a car stopped on the Route 2 overpass on Ayer Road, with smoke or steam coming from under the hood. The investigating officer found that the car had overheated, and the driver already had a tow truck en route. An Old Shirley Road resident called at 7:32 p.m. to report that a car had been stolen from the property. Police say the car belonged to an acquaintance of the resident, and upon contacting the owner, they discovered that the car had been sold and taken away by the new owner. At 8:49 p.m. a business owner on Ayer Road called to report being harassed by a business partner. Police advised the caller that it was a civil matter.
