This week police made 12 motor vehicle stops, which resulted in five citations or written warnings, six verbal warnings, and one summons.
Tuesday, June 3
A Poor Farm Road resident called at 5:30 a.m. asking for help with a bat she’d caught in her home. She was referred to animal control. The ambulance crew responded to a medical call at 6:26 p.m. and transported a woman from an Ayer Road residence to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Leominster police called at 6:49 p.m. to ask for help locating a driver from Harvard who may have been involved in a car accident in Leominster. Harvard police found and spoke to the driver, who subsequently contacted Leominster police. Ambulance personnel answered a medical call from an Old Mill Road residence at 7:41 p.m. and transported a man to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Emergency responders were called out at 9 p.m. to answer a medical call from a Shaker Road residence and took a man to Nashoba Valley Medical Center.
Wednesday, June 4
Littleton police called to advise Harvard officers to look for a missing person believed headed for Harvard. Harvard police did not find the person, but Littleton police did. At 3:16 a.m. police received a call that a large limb had fallen across wires on Scott Road. National Grid was notified, and a crew from the Department of Public Works was dispatched to help with the cleanup. At 1:26 p.m. a Littleton Road resident called to report a dog bite that had occurred the previous week and was referred to the animal control officer. A resident on Old Littleton Road called at 2:08 p.m. with concerns about an unfamiliar white pickup truck parked in the driveway. The truck was gone when police arrived. Police say there was someone spraying for mosquitoes in the area and speculate that the worker may have initially pulled into the wrong driveway. An Ann Lees Road resident stopped at the station at 3:51 p.m. to report a possible phone scam. After conducting random plate checks on passing cars, an officer on patrol on Prospect Hill Road at 6:56 p.m. stopped a car driven by a Clinton man and issued him a summons for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration.
Thursday, June 5
A Still River Road resident called at 12:07 a.m. and reported hearing a vehicle drive by, followed by the sound of breaking glass. Police found that someone had thrown several bottles from a vehicle along a lengthy section of the road and notified the DPW that cleanup was needed. An officer on patrol stopped to investigate a car parked at the town beach at 1:12 a.m. and advised the occupants to move along. A resident called at 6:22 a.m. to report that while she was walking her two large dogs, they took off after a passing deer, headed for the Harvard Sportsmen’s Club. Police say she was concerned that her dogs could be in danger from shooting at the club and asked for assistance in finding them. An officer helped her search the area of the club, but the dogs were not located. Police went to the scene of a two-car accident on the Route 2 off-ramp at 8:05 a.m. and found the operators of the vehicles, which had sustained only minor damage, in the process of exchanging contact and insurance information. At 9:43 a.m. police served an Abbott Lane resident with an apprehension warrant for substance abuse and transported the person to Clinton District Court for a hearing.
Friday, June 6
At 2:26 a.m. an officer on patrol discovered a tree limb across the roadway on Shaker Road and moved it aside. The officer left a message for the DPW to take care of it the next day. Someone stopped at the station at 9 a.m. seeking information on obtaining a no-trespass order. A Slough Road resident called at 9:58 a.m. with concerns about solicitors on his property without permission. Police arrived and located the solicitors and advised them not to do that. Police received a call from an Old Littleton Road resident at 11:47 p.m., saying that he’d returned home to find an unfamiliar occupied car parked in front of his home. The car was gone when police arrived to investigate.
Saturday, June 7
A Finn Road resident called at 11:26 a.m. requesting assistance with an animal. Police say everything was OK when officers arrived. A Depot Road resident called at 11:38 a.m. to report losing a wallet. Someone on Still River Depot Road called at 11:41 a.m. to report that kids were riding bikes in the middle of the road. The bike riders were gone when police arrived. A Brown Road resident called at 5:30 p.m. to lodge a complaint about some aggressive dogs. The person was referred to animal control.
Sunday, June 8
Someone called at 10:58 a.m. to speak with an officer about a domestic situation. At 3:35 p.m. Harvard emergency responders were asked to assist state police at the scene of an accident on Route 2.
Monday, June 9
An officer on patrol at 1:21 a.m. found a large amount of graffiti on the roadway on Littleton and Stow roads and notified the DPW. Littleton police called to request the assistance of Harvard fire and emergency personnel at an accident on Route 2 but later canceled the call. A Bolton Road resident called at 9 a.m. to report a black bear in the area. The animal was gone when police arrived. Emergency personnel responded to the scene of a single-car accident on Mettacomett Path, where a car had gone off the road and hit a utility pole and a stone wall. The car was removed on a flatbed truck, and the driver was taken to Emerson Hospital. The accident is still under investigation; police say that speed was a factor. Firefighters were called to a home on Prospect Hill Road for a suspected chimney fire, but police say the profuse smoke coming from the chimney was from the furnace, which had been doused out by a flooded basement. A business owner on Ayer Road stopped at the station at 3:52 p.m. seeking information on handling a suspected bad check from a customer.
