This week police made 12 motor vehicle stops, which resulted in six citations or written warnings, three verbal warnings, and three summonses.
Tuesday, June 10
A Woodside Road resident called at 9:20 p.m. to report that a landscaper in the area had left the motor running on his excavator for nearly two hours. Police arrived, shut off the engine, and confiscated the keys, which the landscaper retrieved later. The ambulance crew took a woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from an East Bare Hill Road residence at 9:29 p.m. A caller at KokoFit Club on Ayer Road reported that a vehicle had pulled up in front of the exit door and parked around 11:16 p.m. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.
Wednesday, June 11
After performing a random license plate check at 12:55 a.m., an officer on patrol stopped a car on Ayer Road and issued a summons for operating with a suspended license. At 7:16 a.m. a caller reported that a parked car was partially blocking the roadway on Elm Street. An officer located the owner and asked that the vehicle be moved. At 8:54 a.m. a man reported that someone had pulled into the driveway of his home on Candleberry Lane and had told his teenage daughter, who was home alone, that he was there to do scheduled work. The caller told police that he had no work scheduled. Police arrived, spoke to the worker, called his company, and learned that the man had the wrong address. At 10:05 a.m. Boxborough police requested a Harvard officer to provide backup for an officer who was about to serve a warrant. Ambulance personnel responded to a 911 call about a medical emergency at an Ayer Road residence at 1:55 p.m.; the prospective patient refused treatment and transport. At 3:24 p.m. a caller reported that a large tree was down across one lane on Stow Road. An officer moved the tree out of the way and notified the Department of Public Works.
Thursday, June 12
Ambulance personnel were called to a residence on Littleton Road at 12:13 a.m. and transported a woman having chest pains to Emerson Hospital. At 9:37 a.m. an Ayer Road resident called with concerns about a black bear in her yard. She was given the contact information for the Mass. Department of Fish & Game. At 10:21 a.m. someone called to report a car being driven erratically on Ayer Road and said that it had turned into the parking lot of a business on that road. Police located the vehicle, but not the owner.
Friday, June 13
An officer on patrol stopped to investigate an unoccupied vehicle at the Ryan baseball field at 6:40 a.m. In the process, the officer noticed a tree in the roadway on Depot Road and notified the DPW. A woman complaining of an allergic reaction stopped at the station for assistance at 7:37 a.m. and was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. A resident stopped at the station at 7:55 a.m. to report a larceny. The case is under investigation. At 10:38 a.m. a Bolton Road resident called to report the possible theft of some items in the home but later found those items. At 7:01 p.m. a caller reported that some cars were parked in a possibly hazardous way on the side of Lancaster County Road. Police say the investigating officer determined there was no problem.
Saturday, June 14
At 9:49 p.m. a caller reported seeing people with flashlights at Mill Road Tire and Auto on Ayer Road. Police checked the area but did not find anyone.
Sunday, June 15
At 4:03 a.m. a Madigan Lane resident called to complain about a tractor doing some spraying in a nearby orchard, saying that kind of work was not supposed to be done until after 6 a.m. Police went to the orchard but did not see any tractor. At 1:55 p.m. a Still River Road resident reported some wires down in the driveway. Police determined the wires were telephone lines and notified Verizon. An officer on patrol on Madigan Lane at 2:27 p.m. performed a random license plate check on a passing car and stopped the vehicle after finding that the driver’s license had been suspended. The driver was issued a summons for that offense and for not having the vehicle’s registration in his possession; the car was towed. At 8:21 p.m. a caller reported a domestic situation involving his daughter. Police say there had been a verbal altercation, but it was over when they arrived. They advised all parties of their rights under Massachusetts statute A-209A, regarding abuse prevention orders. At 10:17 p.m. Ayer police called, requesting assistance in responding to an alarm call in Ayer.
Monday, June 16
At 6:51 a.m. an Ayer Road resident called to report that a deer had struck her car. Police say there was damage to the window on the driver’s side and the rear window, but the driver was uninjured. The deer did not survive the encounter. At 11:33 a.m. ambulance personnel responded to a medical emergency at a Highland Avenue residence, where a man had fallen. The man was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. At 11:38 a.m. police were called to a Finn Road residence to address a reported disturbance there. Police spoke to the parties involved and advised them of their rights under Mass. statute A-209A. The ambulance crew responded to an emergency medical call on Ayer Road at 4:25 p.m. and transported a woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. State police requested assistance from the Harvard ambulance at the scene of a motorcycle accident on Route 2 at 5:46 p.m. The motorcycle was hauled away, but the driver refused treatment. An officer on patrol at 6:08 p.m. performed a license plate check on a passing vehicle and subsequently stopped the car after discovering that the operator was driving with a suspended registration. He was issued a summons for that offense. At 6:26 p.m. a caller reported that there were bags of trash in the roadway on Old Littleton Road. Police notified the DPW.
