Residents invited to discuss mosquito control
Harvard’s Board of Health will discuss mosquito control, spraying, and insect-borne illnesses Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Hildreth House. Citizens interested in participating in a discussion about these topics, and who want to provide feedback to the board, should attend the meeting. Kindergarten registration starts in March
Hildreth Elementary School will be conducting kindergarten registration and screening March 18 through 21. Scheduled appointments were mailed to eligible students on Feb. 14. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2014. To download all the registration paperwork, visit psharvard.org. If you do not receive an appointment in the mail by Friday, Feb. 28, contact school counselor Christine Reale at creale@psharvard.org.
Open House at Monty Tech
The general public and prospective students and their families are invited to learn more about career and technical education at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School’s annual open house Tuesday, March 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the school, 1050 Westminster St., Route 2A, at the Fitchburg-Westminster line. Visitors are invited to tour the facilities and see students and teachers working on current projects in the school’s 20 career and technical programs. Teachers will be on hand to speak about their curricula and answer questions. A spaghetti and meatball dinner for $3 per person (under age 5 free) will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. For more information, call 978-345-9200, ext. 5235. Citizens invited to Master Plan forums
The Master Plan Steering Committee, a subcommittee of the Planning Board, invites Harvard residents to participate in a series of roundtable discussion to define the direction of the town over the next decade. Participants are asked to weigh in on such topics as sidewalks, traffic, commercial development, and Devens. The meetings will take place as follows:
Town center and public facilities: Monday, March 3, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Bromfield library.
Housing and conservation: Tuesday, March 4, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Bromfield library.
Transportation and the commercial district: Wednesday, March 5, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Bromfield library.
Devens and its impact on Harvard: Saturday, March 8, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Center on the Common.
