WW II Navy veteran, father of Harvard woman

George Baltzer, 86, of Longwood, Fla., died July 10, 2013, after a struggle with cancer.

Born in Rome, N.Y., George served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for the J.C. Penney Company until his retirement.

George was married to the love of his life, Kathleen Brown, for 63 years. He is survived by three children, Laura Delle (and husband Frank) of Longwood, Fla., Deborah Oliva (and husband Guy) of Harvard, and Thomas Baltzer (and wife Fran) of Montclair, N.J.; and seven grandchildren, Christina, Benjamin, Kathleen, Faith, Nicole, Monique, and David.

Funeral services were held at Annunciation Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, Fla., where George was a parishioner and a lector, usher, and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus.

The family extends gratitude to the Hospice of the Comforter.
