At 10:01 a.m. a Candleberry Lane resident called to report that an unfamiliar white Ford van was parked in the driveway next door. Police say the van belonged to a man who had been contracted to do work at that home.
Wednesday, Feb. 1
At 1:58 a.m. a Glenview Drive resident called to report that a car was parked in the driveway of a vacant house he owned nearby, and that there were lights on in the home. Police arrived to investigate and found that the vehicle belonged to the girlfriend of the homeowner’s son. The homeowner told police no further action was required.
Thursday, Feb. 14
At 7:04 a.m. an officer on patrol on Prospect Hill Road came upon an unoccupied car that was parked too far into the roadway, partially obstructing traffic. Unable to locate the driver, they had the vehicle towed. At 9:43 a.m. a man was taken by ambulance from a doctor’s office on Ayer Road to Emerson Hospital.
Friday, Feb. 15
At 1 a.m. a caller reported that he had struck a deer with his car while driving on Ayer Road. There were no injuries and no damage to the vehicle. The deer was gone when police arrived to investigate. A woman was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from a South Shaker Road residence at 11:11 a.m. At 5:21 p.m. a caller reported that, while walking on Ayer Road near the Appleworks Building, he had seen a hypodermic needle on the side of the road. Officers who arrived to investigate did not find the needle. At 8:23 p.m. an officer on patrol stopped to investigate an unoccupied vehicle parked on Still River Depot Road. Police say the owner was located nearby. An Old Shirley Road resident called at 9:35 p.m. to report a strong smell of smoke coming from the home’s basement. A fire officer responded and determined that the smell was coming from a heating vent. He advised the homeowner to have the heating company check it out.
Saturday, Feb. 16
Someone found a black bag on Ayer Road and turned it in at the station at 8:11 a.m. The bag was unclaimed as of Feb. 19. An officer on patrol stopped to investigate a vehicle parked in front of the Bromfield School at 11:03 p.m. Police say the driver had pulled over to make a cell phone call. At 11:07 p.m. an officer on patrol observed a white van being driven erratically on Ayer Road and signaled the driver to pull over. After he failed a field sobriety test, Old Mill Road resident Carl Lochiatto, 49, was arrested for operating under the influence and not staying within marked lanes. He was later released on $40 cash bail and a $500 personal recognizance bond.

At 2:51 p.m. a woman stopped at the station to request some information from the officer on duty.
