Tuesday, Feb. 5
At 2:43 p.m. a Blanchard Road resident called to report that a door-to-door meat salesman had come to the door trying to make a sale. The caller gave police a description of the man’s vehicle. Police later located the salesman, Scott A. Evanchof, 29, of Pawtucket, R.I., and arrested him for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Evanchof was released on $540 bail and was arraigned in Clinton Court on Feb. 8.
Wednesday, Feb. 6
The ambulance transported a man to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from a Littleton Road residence at 6:45 a.m. At 12:04 p.m. Bolton police notified Harvard police to watch for an older-model, silver Toyota Camry believed to have been involved in a housebreak that was interrupted on Sugar Road in Bolton. Police say the two male suspects were white, wearing dark clothing; one had long hair; one had short hair. Police stopped a car matching the description of the Camry on Stow Road at 12:16 p.m., but determined that it wasn’t the vehicle in question. At 12:26 p.m. an officer stopped a car matching the Camry description on Hillcrest Drive, but concluded that was not the vehicle they were looking for either. However, the driver of that car was given a verbal warning for having a brake light out. At 2:31 p.m. firefighters were called to a home on Craggs Road after one of the residents, who had just arrived home from school, called to report that there was smoke in the house and the smoke alarm was sounding. They discovered that the chimney leading from the wood stove was blocked, and removed the blockage. Police say fire officers cleared the scene in about an hour.
Thursday, Feb. 7
At 10:28 a.m. the ambulance took a woman from a Slough Road residence to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. A caller on Stow Road reported at 12:13 p.m. that there was a suspicious-looking white pickup truck in the area. Police say the truck belonged to a contractor for Charter Communications. At 8:43 p.m. a caller reported having a run-in with a deer on Ayer Road. There was minor damage to the car, but no injuries—except to the deer, which did not survive the incident. Police say the carcass was claimed by a passing motorist.
Friday, Feb. 8
At 4:16 p.m. a caller reported that a tractor-trailer and a car were stopped in the roadway on Ayer road, near the town line. Both vehicles were gone when police arrived to investigate. At 4:43 p.m. police were called to a home on Still River Road to intervene in a heated disagreement between parents and a teenager. Police say peace was restored, but as a precaution, all parties were notified of their rights under the Massachusetts abuse-prevention law, MGL 209A.
Saturday, Feb. 9
At 6:21 a.m. the driver of a town plow reported accidentally hitting a stone wall. Police say there was minor property damage, and the truck suffered only a flat tire. At 8:39 a.m. a caller reported that another town plow had struck the flashing yellow light at the Route 2 bridge. Police say there was no damage to the truck; Mass Highway was notified about minor damage to the light. No citations were issued, as the accident was attributed to slippery roads.
Sunday, Feb. 10
At 11:05 a.m. a caller reported that a privately contracted plow had rear-ended a parked car at Fruitlands Museum. Police say there was only minor damage. At 12:34 p.m. a caller reported that a snowmobile was traveling up and down Mill Road. No snowmobile was in the area when police arrived to investigate.
Monday, Feb. 11
At 12:34 a.m. Mass. State Police asked Harvard officers to watch for a red sedan with Massachusetts plates, which had been seen operating erratically on Route 2 and may have exited at Ayer Road. Police did not locate the vehicle. Harvard officers were asked to assist Mass. State Police with a disabled truck on Route 2 while they were occupied with an accident. The state police were already on the scene when Harvard police arrived to stand by while a truck adjusted a loose plow. Harvard emergency responders were called to assist at the scene of a single-car accident on Route 2 westbound at 12:24 p.m. Two people were taken from the car, one with the help of Jaws of Life. Both parties were taken to Leominster Hospital, one by the Advanced Life Support System ambulance (ALS East), and the other by the Med Star ambulance. At 1:13 p.m. a caller reported a dead dog on Ayer Road. Police say it was not a dog, but straw rolls used in road construction. At 2:30 p.m. someone found a set of keys near the town beach and turned them in at the station, where they remained unclaimed as of Feb. 12. At 3:23 p.m. a caller reported that a car had gone off the road at Littleton Road and Orchard Hill. Police say there were no injuries. An officer stood by with the driver until the tow truck arrived. At 3:55 p.m. emergency personnel responded to the scene of a single-car accident on Slough Road. A car with two occupants had gone off the road into a tree. Police say the car’s air bags were deployed, and there was light smoke in the vehicle. Both occupants were taken by ambulance to Emerson Hospital. The driver was issued a citation for not operating safely for given road conditions. At 2:10 p.m. a caller at the library reported a missing child. Police say the child was found in the next room and had just temporarily disappeared from the caretaker’s view.
