At noon, a resident of Blanchard Road reported a suspicious black vehicle parked in his driveway. According to police, the resident later reported he had arranged for a limousine ride to the airport, then canceled his flight, but forgot to cancel the car. At 3:39 p.m., police responded to the report of a one-car accident ae intersection of Shaker Road and Granite View Drive. A driver there had swerved off the road onto private property, police say. No injuries were reported, and the driver was not cited.
Wednesday, Aug. 29
At 2:35 p.m., a woman came to the police station to pick up some guns. The guns had belonged to a resident of Ayer Road, police say, but when he died, they ended up in the possession of his wife, who was not licensed to have them. So police held on to the guns until the man’s daughter, who has a gun license, could pick them up. At 9:42 p.m., a resident of Still River Road complained of someone mowing the lawn at a neighbor’s house. Police say they spoke to the man who was mowing the lawn and he agreed to finish up in the morning.
Thursday, Aug. 30
1:31 p.m., a resident of Slough Road told police a neighbor’s door was open and the neighbors weren’t home. The caller was concerned, police say, because the neighboring home had been recently burglarized. According to police, the neighbors were home; the caller just couldn’t see their car. At 2:52 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Old Shirley Road and Craggs Road. According to police, a town Department of Public Works truck was turning left onto Craggs Road, and a motorcyclist coming the opposite direction on Shirley Road was approaching too fast, “dumped” her bike, and slid into the back of the truck. The motorcyclist suffered some road rash, but was not severely injured. Her motorcycle had to be towed away and she was issued a warning for speeding, police say. The DPW truck received only minor damage.
Friday, Aug. 31
At 6:37 p.m., police received a report of gunshots in an area of Ayer Road. Upon investigation, police report a family was firing guns on their property in a safe area.

Sunday, Sept. 2
At 7:29 a.m., police discovered someone had placed orange traffic cones across Shaker Road near the golf course. The cones were labeled with the letters “BHD,” which, police say, stands for Boxborough Highway Department. Police returned the cones to Boxborough. At 1:01 p.m., a woman reported seeing a group of young people walking in the area of Still River and Willow roads carrying guns. Police spoke to the group and report the kids were carrying realistic-looking airsoft guns. At 3:16 p.m., police investigated a report of ATV use on conservation property off Still River Road. The ATVs were gone on arrival, police say. At 3:48 p.m., a police officer reported spotting someone fooling around with the state Department of Transportation electronic sign board on Ayer Road. According to police, the man was there to hang up a banner across the road and had become curious about the signboard. Police told the man not to touch the sign.
Monday, Sept. 3
At 10:55 a.m., someone came to the police station to complain about someone operating a motor scooter on Mettacomett Path without a license. Police say they spoke to the unlicensed scooter operator and told him to stay off public roads. At 2:25 p.m., Emerson Hospital reported someone had come to the hospital to receive treatment for a dog bite received at an Ayer Road address.
