At 3:20 a.m., a resident of Myrick Lane reported hearing a dog barking a couple houses up the street, which, the caller said, was unusual. Police checked the area and spotted some coyotes. The dog was probably barking at the coyotes, police said. At 2:45 p.m., a resident of Still River Road reported several items were missing from his shed, including a lawn mower, chain saw, and a weedwhacker. Police say they are investigating the incident and they have a suspect. A 9:51 p.m., police checked out a vehicle that was parked at an address on Ayer Road. The vehicle had a suspended registration, police say. The vehicle was towed away.
Wednesday, March 21
At 4:18 a.m., police investigated a report of suspicious activity at Dunkin’ Donuts on Ayer Road. Two young people with BMX bikes were in the parking lot; one was sleeping and the other was looking in the door, according to the report. Police say they spoke to the young people and they had just come early and were waiting for the store to open. At 8:21 a.m., police investigated a motor vehicle accident on the Ayer Road bridge over Route 2. The bridge is under construction and two of the four lanes are blocked. According to police, a driver pulled towards the Route 2 exit and then pulled back onto Ayer Road, sideswiping a car that was passing from behind. Two people who were in the front car were transported to the hospital, their car was towed, and the driver was issued a written warning, police say. The second car did not have to be towed, according to police. At 2:05 p.m., Harvard Police helped Boxborough Police arrest a suspect on multiple warrants on Codman Hill Road.
Thursday, March 22
At 10:50 a.m., a parent asked to speak to an officer in regards to a child being bullied at school. Police say they referred the parent to school authorities. At 1:12 p.m., police received a report of a driver driving erratically on Still River Road. Police say they found the driver and delivered a verbal warning for speeding. At 3:48 p.m., a jogger reported a car had passed her several times while she ran down Slough Road. Police say they spoke to the driver of the car and it was a Verizon worker. At 4:01 p.m., police responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on Ayer Road. Police say a vehicle slowed to turn into a parking lot and another vehicle ran into it from behind. The driver of the back vehicle was issued a citation for following too closely, police say. According to police, the car in front had to be towed and the driver was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center.
Friday, March 23
At 7:39 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Massachusetts Avenue. A car ran into another car while it was turning, police say. One of the cars had to be towed; no citations were issued, police say. At 2:14 p.m., police received a report that a vehicle had passed a stopped school bus. Police say they found and spoke to the driver. At 4:17 p.m., Harvard Police helped the Ayer Police respond to a verbal disturbance at an address just across the town line on Ayer Road. At 5:39 p.m., police investigated a report of people having a campfire off Trail Ridge Way. Police say they spoke to the people, and the fire department came and put the fire out. At 9:19 p.m., a resident of Craggs Road told police there was a couple of trucks in the neighbors’ yard and no lights were on in the home. The caller called back soon after to report the lights were on and the neighbors must have been home, police say.
Saturday, March 24
At 3:04 p.m., an officer spoke to a man who was soliciting without a permit on White Lane. At 4:11 p.m., a resident of Elm Street asked to speak with an officer about “no parking” signs that were up along the street. Police say they dropped off several orange cones to line the street. At 7:49 p.m., police received a report of a group of four males smoking and joking outside the Harvard General Store on Still River Road. An officer asked the group to leave, police say.
Sunday, March 25
At 7:50 a.m., police received a report of vandalism to the Smokey the Bear sign on Ayer Road. Smokey had been defaced with spray paint, police say. A fire department member fixed the sign.
Monday, March 26
At 7:44 a.m., police investigated a report of vandalism on the road in front of a West Bare Hill Road home. Police say the vandals used the same spray paint color and the drew the same symbols as the incident the morning before. Police say they have some suspects. At 11:05 a.m., a caller requested to speak to an officer about a border dispute. Police told the caller it was a civil matter. At 8:07 p.m., a Brown Road woman told police she had been in the basement and when she came upstairs, a back door to her home was open. Police checked the house and report nothing was out of order. The door had probably been blown open by the wind.
