At 5:35 a.m., police received a report of vandalism at the Bromfield School on Massachusetts Avenue. At 8:11 a.m., police received another report of vandalism at the Bromfield School. For details on both those reports, see related story.
Wednesday, October 12
At 5:28 a.m., police investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in front of Westward Orchards on Massachusetts Avenue. The caller told police it was a cargo van parked with its doors open. Police say the van was gone on arrival. There was no evidence anything was taken from Westward Orchards, police say. At 11:41 a.m., police got a report of past vandalism at the Harvard General Store on Still River Road. Police say the vandalism is most likely related to the vandalism reported previously at the Bromfield School. For details, see related story.
Thursday, October 13
At 10:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a home on Trail Ridge Way. An officer spoke to the homeowner, who said it was a flooring company vehicle that had backed up to the door of the home. At 12:08 p.m., police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Ayer Road. According to police; it was a two-vehicle accident involving a car and a tractor-trailer. The car crossed the center line and hit the tractor-trailer, causing severe damage to the left front end of the car and puncturing a fuel tank on the tractor-trailer, spilling 100 to 120 gallons of fuel, police say. Both vehicles had to be towed away and the driver of the car was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center with head trauma caused by hitting the rearview mirror, according to police. The driver of the car was issued a citation for speeding and marked lanes violation. The Harvard Fire Department and a state environmental team responded to clean up the fuel.
Friday, October 14
At 5:09 p.m., a resident of Still River Road called police to report that someone had whipped apples at her parked car, causing spider marks in the windshield. An officer checked the area and reports that, although there were several apples surrounding the car, most likely they had fallen on the windshield from the apple tree under which the car was parked.
Saturday, October 15
At noon, a resident of Prospect Hill Road reported that a large toolbox was missing from his garage. The resident estimated the value of the toolbox at $500. Police are investigating the incident. At 1:01 p.m., a resident of East End Road reported someone had destroyed trees on his property. The homeowner had a dispute with National Grid, which was trimming trees in the area, police say. Police referred the homeowner to National Grid.
Sunday, October 16
At 12:58 p.m., police received a report of burglar alarms going off at the Harvard Historical Society on Still River Road. The president of the Historical Society was on the scene, police say, and took care of the situation.
Monday, October 17
At 2:13 a.m., police spoke to a man who was walking alone on Littleton County Road. The man told police he had just gotten home from out of state and was going for a walk. Police allowed the man to resume his walk. At 6:49 a.m., a resident of Orchard Hill Road reported hearing five to six gunshots in a row and then four or five more. Police checked the area but didn’t find anything suspicious. It is pheasant hunting season. At 2:28 p.m., a caller reported a black Audi driving by the caller’s house several times. The driver was working on the car and taking it for a test drive, police say.
