Week of July 4
Officers on patrol conducted 102 building security checks, responded to four intrusion alarms and two fire alarms, investigated four reports of disturbances, assisted at three motor vehicle accidents and three medical emergencies, checked out seven reports of suspicious activities, conducted six traffic radar operations and cited one traffic violator, according to police records. On Tuesday, July 5, police arrested an 18 year-old Poor Farm Road man on charges of domestic assault and battery with dangerous weapons. A noisy house party Wednesday night on Tahanto Trail was broken up, and parents were advised of the un-chaperoned event, police said. No charges were filed. Police continued investigating a case of paint vandalism which took place on Depot Road the previous weekend. Charges of wanton destruction of property were filed against two females in Clinton District Court on July 3. On Friday, July 8, a breaking and entering and burglary was reported by a Mettacomett Path resident. Investigation is ongoing. A Saturday night disturbance on the pond brought police to Peninsula Road, where a birthday party for an elderly resident was disturbing neighbors, police report. Peace was quickly restored, and a quiet celebration continued.
Week of July 11
An Old Littleton Road resident reported an attempted telephone scam, having been told of winning a Mercedes, and needing to send money to claim the prize. No money was sent; the caller just wanted to make sure the attempt was a matter of record, police said. On Wednesday, a speeding truck was reported by a Stow Road resident. Bolton police were notified to be on the lookout. Early Thursday morning, Harvard police were asked by Bolton police to help in locating a missing juvenile, who was located at home a short time later, police said. For the week, 127 building checks were conducted, police responded to 6 requests for assistance and two mutual aid requests; there were three intrusion alarms and two fire alarms that required attention, according to police records. Police made two court appearances, responded to one medical emergency and one motor vehicle accident, investigated four parked vehicles in the wee hours, checked out six reports of suspicious activity, conducted two traffic radar operations and issued citations for five traffic violations, and issued one no-trespass order.
Week of July 18
There was a minor crime wave in the Shaker Hills area, with reports of mailbox vandalism and thefts from cars at different locations on South Shaker Road and on Babbitt Lane. A Littleton Road woman reported the calling number of a fraudulent phone call asking for donations for veterans. Officers on patrol conducted 120 building checks, responded to seven requests for assistance and two mutual aid requests. Intrusion alarms required 10 responses, and there were five medical emergencies. Seven radar operations were conducted, and there were seven traffic violations requiring citation or warning, according to police records.
Week of July 25
Vandalism was reported on Trail Ridge Way, with three tires slashed. A woman reported seeing a man with a gun on Willard Lane. The investigating officer found that a resident, having seen a deer struck by a car, had followed the animal into the woods and ended its misery, police said. No charges were filed. Report of a crash in the vicinity of Littleton and Shaker roads brought police to the area, who discovered a car on its roof next to a Shaker Road driveway, police said. The driver had apparently made the turn into the driveway going too fast, and lost control. There were no serious injuries. The rest of the week was quiet.
Week of Aug. 1
On Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 4:51 p.m., police responded to a report of a burglary at the Oak Ridge Observatory on Pinnacle Road. There was property damage but nothing was taken, police said. At 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, several callers reported the sound of gun shots from Massachusetts Avenue and Woodchuck Hill Road. Police said the disturbances were caused by fireworks launched from an unknown source. On Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 2:20 a.m., police responded to a complaint of fireworks near the General Store on Still River Road. Upon arrival, police found debris in the road, but no one in the area. On Saturday, Aug. 6, at 1:16 a.m., police report asking participants in a house party on Pinnacle Road to quiet down. The partygoers complied and officers did not return to the address, police said.
