At 1:24 a.m. an officer on patrol checked out a parked car with two occupants at Dunkin’ Donuts. At 9:53 a.m. police stopped a vehicle on Ayer Road near Route 2, and gave the driver a warning for a stop sign violation. The ambulance was requested at 10:11 a.m. to transport a man from the doctor’s office at 233 Ayer Road to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. The fire chief responded to Town Hall at 10:29 a.m. to reset a smoke detector false alarm. Police responding to a 1:47 p.m. call about skateboarders on West Bare Hill Road near Woodside Road found a large group enjoying the steep and narrow stretch of road. Police advised the youths of the danger and asked them to move along.
Wednesday, June 22
An officer on patrol at 2:30 a.m. noticed an open window at Fruitlands Museum, and upon investigation, also found a rear door open. An employee was notified. The inside of the museum was checked and nothing was amiss. The window and door were secured. A passing motorist called at 7:29 a.m. to report a vehicle broken down on a Route 2 exit ramp. Police responded, a tow truck was dispatched, and the vehicle was removed. A highway department worker reported at 2:19 p.m. that a door was ajar at a refreshment stand at the Depot Road playing fields. Investigating officers found evidence of forced entry, and a cash box had been jimmied and heavily damaged. The incident is under investigation; the amount of money taken has not yet been determined. A Woodside Road woman was transported by the Harvard ambulance to Emerson Hospital at 6:23 p.m.
Thursday, June 23
The fire chief and one engine responded to a call from an Old Littleton Road resident to extinguish a car fire. Reports of a burning utility pole at 4:41 p.m. on Still River Road brought the fire chief to the scene. When he arrived, he reported no visible fire but called for an engine to respond and stand by until National Grid responded and corrected the situation.
Friday, June 24
An officer on patrol at 12:15 a.m. took note of an unoccupied vehicle parked in front of Bromfield. A Cruft Lane caller at 12:27 a.m. reported a harassing phone call. Police advised the caller to contact the telephone company if the harassment continues. A fender-bender on a Route 2 ramp was reported at 9:49 a.m. When police arrived, motorists were exchanging papers and damage was minor, so no further investigation was required. Police responded to a residential alarm at 11:20 a.m. from a Haskell Lane residence. The alarm had been triggered accidentally. At 12:09 p.m. a caller complained of a commercial vehicle in the vicinity of Tahanto Trail and Bowers Road driving too fast. Police responded, located the vehicle, and asked the driver to slow down. The ambulance transported a South Shaker Road woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 3:31 p.m. A 6:03 p.m. caller reported an unfamiliar person approaching a neighbor’s home. Police responded and determined that the person was authorized to be there. At 9:44 p.m., a woman went to the door of an Old Shirley Road residence to say she thought she was being followed. The homeowner called police, but by the time they responded, the woman had left. Police checked with relatives of the woman sometime later, to make sure she was OK.
Saturday, June 25
An officer on patrol at 2:51 a.m. discovered a car off the road at the intersection of Mass Ave, Slough Road, and Stow Road (see article).
Sunday, June 26
A 9:18 a.m. caller reported a low-hanging limb on Littleton County Road, threatening utility wires. The utility companies were notified. At 9:28 a.m., an East Bare Hill Road man was transported by ambulance to Emerson Hospital. A fire officer requested support at 10:13 a.m. to check on sparking wires. National Grid was called to correct the problem. Police cited a motorist at 2:39 p.m. for speeding on Still River Road. At 3:18 p.m. another Still River Road driver was given a warning for a stop sign violation. Police responded to a complaint of gunshot noise at 9:28 p.m. on Littleton County Road, in the vicinity of the Sportsmen’s Club. Police checked the area; nothing was seen or heard.
Monday, June 27
At 1:15 p.m. a Stow Road resident reported a burglary. No details are available; the investigation is ongoing. A 1:23 p.m. Turner Lane caller reported a disturbance on the pond. Police arrived to hear heated words being exchanged, but the parties worked out their issues without requiring police action. A few minutes later, at 1:26 p.m. police were called once again about skateboarders on Old Littleton Road near Fairbank Street. As has been done previously, the responding officer advised them of the dangers involved and admonished them to keep to the right, especially as they speed through blind spots of hills and curves. At 9:33 police were called to Depot Road, to investigate reports of gunshots or fireworks. Police responded, but nothing was seen or heard.
