At 9:04 p.m. police received a call from someone who was walking his dog on Old Littleton Road, reporting that he had almost been hit by a passing car; he was unable to get the plate number. Police checked the area but did not locate the car.
Wednesday, June 15
Police responded to the scene of a two-car accident on Ayer Road at 2:23 p.m. No citations were issued; one car was towed. At 3:19 p.m. a caller reported that some high-school kids were at the railroad trestle bridge on Still River Depot Road. Police notified the railroad police. A caller reported at 3:30 p.m. that kids were throwing eggs on Shaker Road. Police checked the area but did not locate anyone or any sign of broken eggs. Police assisted Mass. State Police at the scene of a minor two-car accident on the Route 2 off-ramp at 4:36 p.m. At 7:26 p.m. the ambulance was called to the scene of an accident in the eastbound lane of Route 2. No one was taken to the hospital. At 9:56 p.m. a Mill Road resident called to report hearing gunshots or fireworks. Police checked the area but did not hear or see anything. Police responded to a report of a domestic incident at a Depot Road residence, where a heated verbal disagreement was in progress. One person left the area; police restored the peace.
Thursday, June 16
At 1:32 a.m. a caller reported suspicions about someone walking on Willard Lane. Police located the person, who was a local resident out for a walk. Police responded to the scene of a single-car accident on South Shaker Road at 4:49 a.m. (See story) At 3:50 p.m. police received a call from homeowners on Tahanto Trail, who had just returned home after several days away to find that someone had broken into their house. A significant amount of jewelry was taken. Police are investigating. At 5:33 p.m. a caller reported a speeding car on Still River Depot Road. Police did not locate the vehicle. The ambulance took one woman to Leominster Hospital from a Peninsula Road residence at 9:43 p.m.
Friday, June 17
A caller reported at 10:11 a.m. that some people in a white truck were trying to sell extra asphalt in the area. An officer stopped a truck fitting the description, but it was not the one in question. An officer on patrol at 10:24 a.m. checked the license plate of a car on Stow Road and discovered that the plate had been revoked. The officer stopped the car and subsequently arrested the driver, 38-year-old Washington Sanchez-Cairo of Fitchburg, for possessing a forged driver’s license, operating without a license, operating with a suspended license, operating with a suspended registration, and operating an uninsured vehicle. The car was towed; Sanchez-Cairo was taken to the lockup at the Harvard Police Station. Ambulance and fire personnel were asked to assist at the scene of a single-car accident on Route 2 westbound near Jackson Road, where the driver lost control of the car, crossed the median strip, and hit a guardrail. The ambulance took the driver to Leominster Hospital. An officer on patrol at 2:55 p.m. checked the license plate of a car parked near a home on Ayer Road, and discovered that the car belonged to someone from Holden. The officer stopped to investigate and found that the driver was a relative of the homeowner. At 3:58 p.m. an Ayer Road resident called to report observing a car hit a nearby mailbox. According to the caller, the person in the car had gotten out to view the damage, then got back into the car and left the scene. The caller then got in the car and followed the other car, and provided police with the license plate number. Police located the car in question and will summons the driver, a 34-year-old Waltham woman, for leaving the scene of a property-damage accident and failure to stay within marked lanes. At 7:14 p.m. someone turned in a set of Saturn keys found at the Common. The keys are still at the station with the dispatcher. At 8:12 p.m. an Old Littleton Road resident called to report suspicions about a pickup truck that was parked in front of the house. The truck was gone when police arrived. At 8:40 p.m. a caller reported suspicions about some youths in the area of the old library. An officer checked them out and found that all was OK. An officer on patrol at 9:50 p.m. stopped to remind people parked at the overlook on Prospect Hill Road that it was past the time when people were allowed to be there. They told the officer they were just about to leave. An officer on patrol at 10:23 p.m. advised some people at the beach that the beach was closed for the evening, and asked them to move along.
Saturday, June 18
At 10:09 a.m. Harvard police were asked to assist Boxborough police with an arrest. At 6:05 p.m. a caller reported seeing a car being driven erratically on Littleton Road, near Pinnacle Road. Police checked the area, but did not locate the vehicle.
Sunday, June 19
An Old Littleton Road resident called at 1:07 a.m. to report that someone had just yelled toward his house from the street. Police did not locate anyone. At 10:02 a.m. someone stopped at the station to speak with an officer about a family matter. The ambulance transported a woman to Emerson Hospital from a Highland Ave. residence at 12:48 p.m. Around 1:10 p.m. police received several calls about gunshots heard on Littleton Road. They located a group of people target shooting just off Ayer Road, and determined that no further action was necessary. Someone stopped at the station at 6:23 p.m. to speak with an officer about a domestic situation.
Monday, June 20
An officer on patrol at 2:05 a.m. made note of an unoccupied car parked near the McCurdy track. At 1:49 p.m. an officer on patrol stopped to speak with some skateboarders on Slough Road about their unsafe operation of the skateboards. A Stow Road resident called at 7:06 p.m. to complain about a speeding car on that road. Police did not locate the car. At 7:11 someone stopped at the station to report seeing someone standing through the sun roof of a moving vehicle. Police located the vehicle and spoke to the adult present about the dangers of doing that.
