At 8:27 a.m. a caller reported suspicions about a white van with ladders on the roof, parked on Murray Lane. The vehicle was gone when police arrived to investigate. At 6:04 p.m. a truck owned by a paving company backed into a utility pole on Glenview Drive. Verizon and National Grid were notified to repair the pole. At 6:31 p.m. a woman called to report that her daughter’s cell phone had been stolen at the town beach. The case is under investigation. A caller reported at 8:04 p.m. that a car was parked at the Center Cemetery. The car was gone when police arrived.
Wednesday, April 20
Someone stopped at the station at 7:57 a.m. to turn in a DHL envelope found at the end of a driveway on Old Littleton Road. Police notified the owner, who came and picked it up. At 8:14 p.m. police responded to the scene of a single-car accident on Ayer Road. The driver told police he had fallen asleep at the wheel, and the car had gone off the road into a guard rail. The driver was not injured; the car was towed.
Thursday, April 21
At 7:22 a.m. a caller reported that dogs that were supposed to be restrained were loose on Abbott Lane. Police notified the animal control officers. The ambulance took a man to the Leahy Clinic in Burlington from an Old Shirley Road residence at 10:59 a.m. At 12:07 p.m. an officer spoke with the ambulance director about a minor motor vehicle infraction by one of the EMTs. At 4:30 p.m. a man stopped at the station to report that a man in a truck had pulled up next to his daughter, who was walking on Green Hill Road, and asked if she’d seen a little white dog. Her father told police there is no little white dog that lives in the neighborhood. Police checked the area, but did not locate the truck. At 10:53 p.m. an old Shirley Road resident asked police to check the end of her driveway, because her house alarm had gone off and she thought there could be an intruder in the yard. Police did not find anyone there.
Friday, April 22
At 12:05 p.m. Mass. State Police asked Harvard police to check Route 2 near the Ayer Road exit for a tractor-trailer truck that had been involved in an accident with another tractor-trailer unit. Police did not locate the vehicle. At 6:44 p.m. a caller reported seeing an older woman carrying packages walking on Still River Road, and was concerned that the woman might be lost. The woman was not in the area when police checked. Mass. State Police called at 9:28 p.m. to ask Harvard officers to look for a Lexus being driven erratically on Route 2 near the Ayer Road exit. Police did not locate the vehicle.
Saturday, April 23
At 5:10 p.m. the ambulance transported a patient from Nashoba Valley Medical Center to UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
Sunday, April 24
The ambulance took a woman to Leominster Hospital from a Still River Road address at 8:02 a.m. At 11:20 a.m. a Brown Road resident reported that someone in a small, black compact car parked in front of her house had shined a light into the house. Police checked the area, but did not locate the vehicle. At 5:32 p.m. an officer on patrol noticed two youths walking at the Transfer Station and advised them they were not supposed to be there. A caller reported at 10:01 p.m. that a large, dead animal was in the road near Ayer and Whitney roads. Police notified the Department of Public Works.
Monday, April 25
At 4:02 p.m. someone stopped at the station to turn in an iPod and headphones found at McCurdy track. The items are being stored with the dispatcher. A woman and her son stopped at the station at 5:51 p.m. to report that the son’s cell phone had been stolen at the town beach. The case is under investigation. An officer on patrol at 9:51 p.m. stopped to advise the driver of a car parked at the overlook that it was after hours and time to move along.
