At 10:43 p.m. Harvard police assisted the driver of a disabled vehicle by standing by for the arrival of a tow truck.
Wednesday, April 27
Firefighters were called to investigate the smoke-filled basement of a home on Depot Road at 5:26 a.m. They determined that the smoke was from an oil burner that misfired and helped the homeowner clear out the smoke. At 2:31 p.m. a caller on Cruft Lane reported hearing gunshots in the area. The noise was coming from a nearby apple orchard, where people had been authorized to practice target shooting. At 6:15 p.m. a business owner on Ayer Road called to report that someone had dumped construction debris behind the building.
Thursday, April 28
At 11:39 a.m. a child was taken to Emerson Hospital from a doctor’s office on Ayer Road. A man called at 12:20 p.m. to report that he had been bitten by a dog after stopping to buy eggs at a home on Murray Lane. He did not require medical treatment. The incident was reported to the animal control officer. A caller notified police at 8:07 p.m. that two men had been sitting in front of the post office on Ayer Road for about three hours. The man was gone when police arrived to investigate. A Stow Road resident called at 8:23 p.m. to report that her house had been burglarized while she was at work. Police found that there had been a forced entry, and multiple items stolen, including a 50-inch TV, prescription medications, and jewelry. The case is under investigation.
Friday, April 29
The ambulance transported a Bolton resident to Emerson Hospital at 5:40 a.m., while the Bolton ambulance was out of service. The ambulance took a child to Emerson Hospital from a doctor’s office on Ayer Road at 9:10 a.m. A woman called the station at 10:25 a.m. to report that a car had cut her off while she was driving near Pinnacle and Oak Hill roads. She provided a plate number; however, the number proved to be incorrect, and the vehicle was gone when police checked the area. At 12:45 p.m. police received a fax from Emerson Hospital reporting that a resident had been bitten by a dog on Poor Farm Road. The animal control officer was notified. A caller reported at 8:17 p.m. that a pickup truck was parked in the cemetery. The vehicle was gone when police arrived to investigate.
Saturday, April 30
A caller reported at 4:53 p.m. that a group of teens was at the Delaney conservation area playing with Airsoft guns. Police located the mother of the teens, who said they were playing with the guns as part of a birthday party activity. Police informed her that according to state law, youths under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent if using the guns. The woman agreed to supervise the group. Firefighters were called to a Mill Road residence to extinguish an illegal brush fire at 7:32 p.m.
Sunday, May 1
Harvard police were asked to assist Boxborough police with a motor vehicle stop at 12:14 a.m. At 2:28 p.m. a caller reported that a black car was parked in the middle of the road on Babbitt Lane with its doors open, and no one was around. The car was gone when police arrived. Firefighters responded to a report of an out-of-control brush fire at 3:56 p.m. and extinguished the blaze, which was also an illegal burn. Boxborough police requested the assistance of Harvard officers with a motor vehicle stop at 7:09 p.m.
Monday, May 2
At 9:45 a.m. a motorist reported being cut off by a bus near Bolton and West Bare Hill roads. At 3:32 p.m. an officer on patrol stopped to investigate a car parked on Bolton Road and issued the driver a verbal warning for having an illegal tint on the windows. At 4:50 p.m. police responded to a report of downed wires on Willow Road, caused by a passing septic truck, and stood by while utility crews reattached them. At 5:31 p.m. a caller reported that two dogs were running in and out of the road on Warren Ave. The animal control officer was notified. At 7:15 p.m. a real estate person reported being assaulted by the owner of a condominium near one he was photographing. He declined to press charges.
