Veteran’s Day ceremonies
On Wednesday, Nov.11, at 11 a.m. on the main floor of the old library, the Office of Veterans’ Services will conduct Veteran’s Day ceremonies.
The ceremonies will include the participation of Girl Scout troops, presentation of military medals to twin brothers Peter and Paul “PJ” Johnston, and the annual Harvard Veteran of the Year Award, also known as “The PJ.” Ceremonies will conclude with the grand opening of the relocated Office of Veterans’ Services at the old library.
All veterans are encouraged to attend. Uniform is very optional. The public is cordially invited.
Voter registration deadline Nov. 18
The last day to register to vote in the special state primary and special town election is Wednesday, Nov. 18, when the Town Clerk’s office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Registration opens for ski program
With snow season fast approaching, the Bromfield and elementary school fifth-grade ski clubs, sponsored by Harvard Parks and Recreation, are accepting registrations for the 2010 Wednesday-afternoon programs. Registration pamphlets are available at Bromfield and elementary school offices, Town Hall, and the library. Bus registration is available online at www.harvardparkandrec.org. Space is limited. Registration deadline is Nov. 20. Devens issues range-noise bulletin
Devens has issued a notice marking the following military activities that will result in increased noise.
- Monday, Nov. 9: demolitions, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 10: demolitions, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14: MK19 familiarization fire, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Sunday, Nov. 15: MK19 familiarization fire, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 17: demolitions training, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Contribute your questions for the candidates debate
What do you think are the biggest issues facing the town? What do you think the selectmen should do about them? Let the candidates for selectman know what’s on your mind and hear what they have to say at next week’s candidates debate.
The debate, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Harvard and the Harvard Press, will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in Volunteers Hall.
In advance of the Dec. 8 election, Board of Selectmen candidates Bill Johnson and Marie Sobalvarro will debate questions sent in by mail and e-mail, as well as questions from the audience.
