Library Picnic
The library will host its Summer Reading Finale Picnic for all ages Wednesday, Aug. 19, from noon to 1 p.m. Summer readers can celebrate their reading success at the picnic on the library lawn. Fruitlands Sundown Concerts
Fruitlands Museum’s 24th annual Sundown Concert series will end on Aug. 26. Remaining concerts include:
- Wednesday, Aug. 19: Bruno Råberg, internationally renowned bass player and composer, will bring his fusion jazz to the lawn. Rain date is Aug. 20.
- Wednesday, Aug. 26: The Love Dogs perform blues, New Orleans rhythm and blues, and early rock ’n roll. Rain date is Aug. 27.

127th Bolton Fair
The 127th Bolton Fair will be held Aug. 12 through the 16, with the Fiesta Shows midway open from 5 to 10 p.m. for one price on Wednesday and full exhibits and midway open Thursday and Friday from noon to 10 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The fair will feature all the old favorites for animal exhibits such as sheep, goats, rabbits, poultry, and cattle, and a number of contests for young and old alike. The Exhibit Hall will showcase hundreds of home-grown goodies and handmade crafts. A full entertainment schedule is available online at www.boltonfair.org and at the gate. (8/14)
NRWA Water Chestnut Pull
The Nashua River Watershed Association is seeking volunteers to participate in the water chestnut pull on Pepperell Pond (an impoundment of the Nashua River) Sunday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to help scout and pull water chestnuts, an invasive exotic weed that diminishes the quality of the river as fish habitat and as a recreational resource. Gathering baskets and maps will be provided. Volunteers should wear old clothes and bring gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, water to drink, and a bag lunch.
Volunteers may bring their own canoes and equipment, but will be asked to sign an insurance waiver. A limited number of canoes will be provided by Nashoba Paddler on a first-come, first-served basis. Advance registration is required. Register by calling the NRWA at 978-448-0299. (8/14)
