Morning Bird Walk
Fruitlands Museum will host a morning bird walk Saturday, July 11, at 6:30 a.m., starting at the museum parking lot. Local birder Pat White will lead the two-mile walk through Fruitlands’ meadows and woods, including some steep sections and wet areas. Concert at the library
Musicians Justin Bartlett and Holly Jenkins will present a recital at the Harvard Public Library Tuesday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature works by Brahms, Mozart and Dvorak. (7/10)
Sundown Concerts at Fruitlands
Fruitlands’ “Sundown Concerts” series with the Concord Band, under the direction of James O’Dell, will continue every Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m through July. Rain dates will be Thursdays. The band’s scheduled performances include:
- Wednesday, July 8: “Screen and Stage Spectaculars” with favorite movie themes and Broadway melodies.
- Wednesday, July 15: “Tap Your toes to Ellington, Armstrong, Gershwin” and “All That Jazz.”
- Wednesday, July 22: “Continental Divide,” with music from Concord to Sedona.
- Wednesday, July 29: “A Summer Retrospective,” the final concert with highlights and favorites from the summer programs.

The Nashua River Watershed Association will sponsor a free guided “River’s Edge” walking tour Sunday, July 12, from 3 to 5 p.m., beginning and ending at the Water Street parking lot, south side of the Nashua River just west of Main Street, Nashua, N.H. Evening Walk at Bolton Flats
The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) invites the public to a free guided evening walk at Bolton Flats Thursday, July 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The guide will be Chris Buelow, restoration ecologist assistant with the Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program. On this half-mile walk, Buelow will talk about the unique habitat at Bolton Flats, identify local flora and fauna, and discuss habitat restoration projects, such as the program to eradicate invasive purple loosestrife using beneficial Galerucella beetles.
The walk will take place rain or shine. Walkers should wear sturdy footwear and dress for protection from mosquitoes and ticks. Sorry, no dogs are allowed. Walker should meet at the Bolton Flats Wildlife Area parking lot on Route 117, just west of the intersection of routes 117 and 110 in Bolton. Registration is requested.
