The Town Center Sewer Task Force was created in December 2007 when the Board of Selectmen approved a motion by Selectman Tim Clark that proposed to bring an article to Town Meeting to conclude the town center sewer question. Instead, the task force has prepared an article intended to start a process leading to a decision.
The community needs an array of information to inform the debate and a process for seeking a resolution of this complex issue. As envisioned, key process waypoints include determining available wastewater treatment plant capacity, identifying the best stand-alone solution to the town’s municipal needs, understanding the impact to the town of sharing capital and operating costs, defining a potential town center sewer district, projecting capital and operating costs for participants, and grappling with the risks and benefits of either action or stasis.
The task force can do much of the legwork filling in the details, but our community has to do the heavy lifting in resolving these questions. Together we can start. Please attend and participate in Town Meeting on March 29.
