Police stopped a young woman from Fitchburg on Route 2 westbound for driving a car with a revoked registration at 7:02 a.m. Police issued a summons for the offense, called a tow truck for the car, and gave her a ride to her job at Dunkin’ Donuts. A Finn Road resident called dispatch to report multiple speeding cars in the neighborhood at 10 a.m. An officer patrolled the area looking for the cars, but could not locate any. An Old Littleton Road woman called police at 2:51 p.m. to report her irritation with neighbor children playing musical instruments. A cellphone caller notified dispatch of a dead possum in the middle of Ayer Road at 11:12 p.m.
Wednesday, June 20
The ambulance team took a Myrick Lane woman to Emerson Hospital at 2:24 a.m. A Sheep Island homeowner called police to report finding a sailboat on his property at 2:57 p.m. More information on the sailboat is available by calling the station at 978-456-1212. At 3:40 p.m., the ambulance team took a woman who had fainted in line at Dunkin’ Donuts to Nashoba Valley Medical Center.
Thursday, June 21
A Bolton Road resident who received a letter about a well-known, worldwide con game called police to report details of the incident at 7:32 p.m. The police reported the letter to the post office.
Friday, June 22
At 10:25 a.m., a Blanchard Road resident called police to report a suspicious-looking man in the neighborhood who said he was conducting a professional survey for a local utility company. Police contacted the man, who was in fact conducting a professional survey for a local utility company. A man from Littleton driving over the speed limit on South Shaker Road lost control of his car and hit a tree just before 6:07 p.m. Police gave him a citation for speeding, and called the towing company to come get the car.
Saturday, June 23
A Pinnacle Road resident called police to tell them about a speeding car in the neighborhood at 7:02 a.m. Police found the driver, a newspaper deliveryman behind on his route, and asked him to slow down. A Littleton Road man was taken to Nashoba at 11:30 a.m. A woman from out of town called police at 2:35 p.m. to report a stolen purse. After investigating, police determined there was a large chance the purse had fallen into the toilet of a portable restroom, and called the restroom rental company to ask them to investigate. A man who ran out of gas at Dunkin’ Donuts called police for help at 5:21 p.m. Police gave the man a ride to the Citgo station. Boxborough police called Harvard for backup assistance with a motor vehicle stop at 7:29 p.m.
Sunday, June 24
A Harvard resident reported hearing gunshots in the vicinity of Blueberry Island at 3:32 a.m., but police did not find any suspicious activity in the area. At 6:19 a.m., police discovered a vandal had spray-painted the words “junior prank” and an illustration of male genitalia on a wall of Bromfield. Spray-painting, or “tagging,” is a felony offense, Officer Bill Castro said. A resident of Old Shirley Road called police at 6:34 a.m. to report a strange van in her driveway. The officer investigating found a young woman from out of town who had gotten lost between Leominster and Chelmsford and pulled off the road for a nap. She was given directions and sent on her way. A neighbor watching another neighbor’s house on Littleton Road called dispatch at 1:33 p.m. as she observed a hot tub being taken out of the vacationing neighbor’s house. When an officer investigated, it became clear that the owners had arranged for the removal of the hot tub, and failed to notify the caretaker of the arrangements. An East Bare Hill Road homeowner called police to report a barking dog at 9:25 p.m. The officer responding did not hear any barking or find any dog when he arrived at the scene, however.
Monday, June 25
Police stopped Austin Daniells, 19, of West Bare Hill Road, for speeding and suspicion of operating under the influence on Stow Road at 2:30 a.m. After an investigation, Daniells was arrested and charged with speeding, operating under the influence, and possession of marijuana. Both he and his passenger, who was also under the influence, were taken into protective custody, then released to their respective parents. At 9:35 a.m., a Still River Road woman called police after her daughter called her to report a strange man walking around their house. The officer investigating found a case of poor marital communication: the father had arranged for a contractor to take measurements for some construction work without notifying his wife and daughter of the appointment. A Withington Lane woman with a Turkish passport called police to report losing the passport somewhere in her house at 11:15 a.m. In some countries, reporting a lost passport is often the first step in replacing it, Castro said. At 1:10 p.m., a Green Hill Road homeowner called dispatch to report a man taking rocks from a wall in the nearby area. The officer investigating found that the man had permission from another Green Hill homeowner to take the rocks, but that he might have been taking them from conservation land by mistake. Police are working to determine jurisdiction over the rocks. At 5:31 p.m., a Camp Green Eyrie counselor called police to report hearing inappropriate remarks from the Girl Scout campers as they were using their walkie-talkies to communicate.
