A West Bare Hill Road homeowner called police at 2:42 a.m. to complain about a large commercial truck making noise out on the road. Police found the truck and the work crew making repairs for a cable company. A Withington Lane man called police with questions about firearms owned by his father, a Vermont resident, at 11:15 a.m. A worker from the Department of Public Works accidentally damaged a telephone pole on Ayer Road while doing other work for the department at 2:25 p.m. Police notified the utility company, and they replaced the pole the next day. Police went to an Ayer Road residence after receiving a phone call about a domestic incident involving two men at 8:47 p.m. After drinking, the men got into an argument that escalated into a fight when one of the men hit the other with two chairs and a cooler. The victim was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center with severe lacerations to the head, while the other man escaped on foot. He later turned himself in to the police station at 10:43 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, where police charged him with three counts of assault and battery.
Wednesday, June 13
A Myrick Lane woman called dispatch at 12:49 p.m. and reported feeling threatened by a neighbor child playing baseball by himself. An Old Shirley Road resident called police to report damage to her lawn at 7:34 p.m.
Thursday, June 14
An officer took an Under Pin Hill Road homeowner to task for burning illegally at 10:15 a.m. At 12:49 p.m., the mother of the man arrested Wednesday for assault and battery came into the station to talk about the charges against her son. The ambulance team took an Old Littleton Road man to Nashoba at 2:13 p.m. A man concerned for his wife’s welfare called police at 9:30 p.m. to ask for help finding her during a late-evening constitutional on Stow Road. She walked in while he was still on the phone with the dispatcher, and no action was taken.
Friday, June 15
Neighbors concerned about trash recently left near conservation land on Finn Road and Withington Lane called police to report suspicious-looking cars at 11:53 p.m. Police were unable to locate the cars when they drove through the area. A real estate agent for a property on Bolton Road called to report the theft of a small real estate sign at 10:02 a.m. A Bolton Road man pulling out of his driveway struck a newspaper box and reported the incident to police at 4:04 p.m. At 4:16 p.m., a woman called the dispatcher to tell the story of driving her Buick Century down Stow Road and hitting a rock and a telephone pole on her way home. She only realized the damage had been done after she got home and got out of the car, she said. A Harvard woman driving a Toyota and leaving a private driveway accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake and hit a stone wall just before 5:38 p.m. The driver was not hurt and damage to the car was minor, but police called a tow truck to pull the car away from the wall.
Saturday, June 16
A bike rider called dispatch at 6:26 a.m. to report a damaged mailbox on Slough Road. Police were unable to determine if the vandalism was new or old. A Stow Road homeowner reported a newly damaged mailbox at 10:56 a.m. A cellphone caller driving on Ayer Road called police to report a car swerving all over the road at 3:50 p.m. Police were not able to find the car in question.
Sunday, June 17
The ambulance team took a Simon Atherton Row woman to Emerson Hospital at 12:17 a.m. An officer on patrol asked two drivers on Still River Road to move their cars out of the roadway at 1:07 a.m. A Harvard woman came in to check on the status of a restraining order against her former husband at 8:13 p.m.
Monday, June 18
A fox came to a sticky end on Stow Road just before 12:34 p.m., when the DPW picked it up.
