The Bromfield boys and girls track teams both earned their first win of the season against the Clinton Gaels on Wednesday, April 12, at the McCurdy Track. The boys team narrowly beat Clinton 73–71, while the girls team easily swept the Gaels 101–33.
Bromfield junior Chloe Alfieri continued her impressive track career with first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter, and long jump, while freshman Tessa McClain won first place in the 1-mile.
In field events, Grace Turnbull and Hannah LoChiatto tied for first in high jump with a height of 4 feet 10 inches. Sophomores Izzy Barton and Sage McFarland threw shot and discus for Bromfield.
On the boys team, Bromfield senior Jamie Barrett placed first in all three of his events: pole vault, 110-meter hurdles, and the 400-meter hurdles. The boys meet was so close that the last race, the 4x400-meter relay, determined the winner. Seniors Paul Chapman and Tristan Cronin and juniors Luke Jones and Sean Leisure took the lead early in the relay, and their first victory assured a win for the boys.
There were no meets over April break for track. However, seniors Maddie Steele and Hannah LoChiatto competed at the Pentathlon at Shrewsbury High School Wednesday, April 19.
Hannah LoChiatto is a Bromfield senior.
