Bromfield baseball lost against Lunenburg High School, 3–1, at a home game Wednesday, May 9, but then split its next two games, losing to Littleton and beating Oakmont.
In the first inning of the game against Lunenburg, both teams were scoreless. The second inning is when the Lunenburg Blue Knights started to get the edge.
After the Trojans’ pitcher, senior Jackson Harrigan, struck out the first batter, the second batter earned a walk. He then stole second base, which allowed him to run home on his teammate’s bunt. Luckily for Bromfield, the next two batters were tagged out at first base. But Bromfield was unable to score any runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Neither team added runs in the third inning, but the fourth saw the most action of the game.
The top of the inning began with Lunenburg’s first batter narrowly making it to first base. The second single was also a close one, with Bromfield’s defense not quick enough in getting the ball to first. Harrigan got the next batter out, but the men already on base stole second and third. When their teammate then hit a triple, he sent both of these players home. Bromfield shortly completed the last outs, stopping any more runs.
Bromfield scored its only run in the bottom of the fourth. Junior Lance Jarosz began by hitting a single. Junior Alex Magan followed with another single and Jarosz ran to third. Next, junior Andrew Hill hit the ball, sending Jarosz home. Unfortunately, that hit resulted in an out for Hill, and Magan couldn’t advance any bases. The inning ended with two outs at first base.
The last three innings were scoreless, which left the game at 3–1, Lunenburg.
The Trojans split their next two games, losing to the Littleton Tigers, 4–1, Friday, May 11, Monday, but beating Oakmont, 3–2, May 14. These wins and losses put Bromfield’s overall record at 5–7 and its league record at 3–3. The team’s next games were scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, against Tyngsborough; and Thursday, May 19, against Clinton.
