In the past week, police made 32 motor vehicle stops, five resulting in verbal warnings, 24 in written warnings or citations, one in a civil citation that carries a fine, and one in a vehicle being towed. Officers also checked on two disabled motor vehicles, made two well-being checks, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Oct. 7
At 4:05 a.m. a motorcyclist hit a deer on Bolton Road. The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Police euthanized the deer. At 11:32 a.m. a 911 caller reported a black-and-white dog wandering on Prospect Hill Road, and the animal control officer was informed. At 7:10 p.m. an officer assisted with a child custody exchange at the police station. At 8:17 p.m. a caller reported a fallen tree blocking the road near the intersection of Old Schoolhouse and Littleton County roads; an officer removed the tree.
Wednesday, Oct. 8
At 11:37 a.m. a Woodside Road resident called 911, saying their cellphone might have been stolen. At 12:12 p.m. someone reported that, contrary to law, cars had passed a stopped school bus on Ayer Road that morning. At 2:32 p.m. there was a minor two-car collision on Littleton County Road; an officer went to the scene and found the drivers had already exchanged the necessary information.
Thursday, Oct. 9
At 12:08 p.m. a caller reported a tree or wire down on Mill Road. At 5:03 p.m. another caller reported a tree branch fallen on Mill Road, and an officer removed it.
Friday, Oct. 10
At 8:05 a.m. an officer saw an injured deer that had been struck by a car on Ayer Road; the deer was euthanized. At 10:31 a.m. a caller reported a golden retriever in the roadway on Stow Road, and the animal control officer was notified. At 12:58 p.m. a caller complained about a dump truck in the middle of Orchard Hill Road, but the truck was gone when police arrived.
Saturday, Oct. 11
At 8:30 a.m. a 911 caller reported a crash on Interstate 495 northbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 11:02 a.m. someone asked to speak with an officer about a parked truck that was blocking the caller’s car on Mass. Ave. The police asked a towing service to move the truck. At 1:25 p.m. a purse was turned in to police at the flea market, and the owner soon claimed it. At 3:37 p.m. a lost wallet and cellphone were brought to the police station. At 8:30 p.m. a 911 caller said two pickup trucks were parked off Littleton Road; the caller was concerned about illegal hunting. Police located the truck owners, who said they were searching for a deer they had shot earlier in the day, but they had not been able to locate it.
Sunday, Oct. 12
At 5 p.m. Boxborough police received a request for a well-being check at a home on Flagg Hill Road. They asked for assistance from Harvard officers after no one answered the door at the house. When the officers entered, they found the resident had died.
Monday, Oct. 13
At 12:58 a.m. someone called about a fallen tree on Littleton Road. An officer cleared it away. At 2:07 p.m. an officer observed and removed debris on Tahanto Trail. At 5:08 p.m. Harvard police assisted Boxborough in responding to a 911 call about a burglary and assault at Swanson Court. Officers were not able to locate the perpetrator. At 6:10 p.m. there was a crash on Route 2 eastbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 6:15 p.m. the state police asked for help finding a car that had left the scene, and Harvard officers located it on Lancaster County Road. At 9:58 p.m. an officer checked on a car in a parking lot on Ayer Road, but found it belonged to a business owner there.
