Our vulnerable call for help to the Harvard Fire Department was a leap of faith on a fortunately minor matter. Their dedicated call to service and response was anything but minor. Thank you to firefighters Bill Barton, Robert Curran, Billy Nigzus, Jen Schoenberg, and their dispatch team, with our sincerest appreciation, admiration, and respect. This team, and their firefighter, police, emergency personnel, educator, medical and DPW colleagues, are disguised in everyday life as our unassuming neighbors and friends. In fact, let’s remember when we tend to see nothing but placeholder zeros increase in our tax bills, the selfless valor, character and commitment of these, our local heroes.
