Old Library Pilot Project Team hosts ‘Pilot Project Preview Day’
The Municipal Building Committee’s Old Library Pilot Project working group will host a “Pilot Project Preview Day” Saturday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the old library.
The five-person working group will manage a six-month pilot project to determine if the building could become a self-sustaining center for community and arts. The “Preview Day” will include tours of the building and free sample classes, including 20-minute classes in play-dancing and ballet, jazz, and modern and world dance. Members of the Old Library Pilot Project Team will be on hand to answer questions and accept room requests, program proposals, and volunteer sign-up forms.
Other ideas for use of space at the old library include having a Harvard Welcome Center at the front desk, starting a board-game-enthusiasts weekly game night, slide show talks by town residents about their foreign travels, painting classes, cultural council grant-funding workshops, quilter meetings, chess club nights, fiction writer workshops, music group rehearsals, photography and art exhibits, and more.
Initial class offerings that are part of the Pilot Project begin Monday, Sept. 20. For more information, visit the Pilot Project website at www.harvard.ma.us/pilotproject or e-mail pilotprojectinfo@gmail.com.
