Cross country teams shine at Ocean State Invitational

On Saturday, Sept. 25, the Bromfield cross country teams participated in the New Balance Ocean State Invitational in Warwick, R.I., one of the largest cross country races in the nation. The meet drew more than 2,100 runners from New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and California, and more than 93 teams from as far away as Ireland and Bermuda. Bromfield entered boys and girls teams in the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity races.

The top finisher in the girls freshman 4K race was Bromfield’s Kate Toll, who had just joined the team and was running her first cross country race. Toll finished 27th and received a medal for her performance. Other top Bromfield finishers in the freshman race included Julie Gormley, Brianna Harte, Amy Hu, and Suma Haque. The freshman team finished sixth in the competition.

Sophia Collins was among the top 30 finishers in the varsity competition and earned a medal for her performance. Mimi Narbonne, Alice Kennedy, Rachel Leicher Bhavani Hodgkins, and Harriet Hill scored a 13th-place Bromfield team finish.

Nick Norcross was the top finisher for the boys varsity team, which placed 15th in the team division.
