In the past week, police made 51 motor vehicle stops, 31 resulting in verbal warnings and 17 in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on three disabled vehicles and responded to one false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, Sept. 1
At 2:05 p.m. at an Old Mill Road home, an officer served a restraining order requiring a person there to vacate the property. At 4:11 p.m. an officer delivered a summons to an Ayer Road resident. At 9:06 p.m. the person subject to the earlier restraining order called police, asking to go back to the Old Mill Road house to get medication for a pet; but the person was told not to return that evening.
Wednesday, Sept. 2
At 12:34 p.m. a Stow Road resident called 911, saying someone in a car with Texas license plates was taking photographs of their property. Police found it was a Verizon worker taking pictures of a pole that needed repair. At 12:39 p.m. an officer accompanied the subject of the restraining order to the Old Mill Road house to collect their belongings. At 4:28 p.m. a caller complained about an all-terrain vehicle going up and down Finn Road. Police spoke with the driver. At 4:33 p.m. someone reported a tree branch down on Woodside Road; the Department of Public Works was informed.
Thursday, Sept. 3
At 5:37 p.m. someone called with concerns about possible hunters in the wetlands near Ann Lees Road and Babbitt Lane. Police checked the area and found nothing amiss.
Friday, Sept. 4
At 9:56 a.m. a 911 caller reported a collision involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 495 southbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 12:26 p.m. someone came to the police station, saying her phone had alerted her that a person had entered her apartment. Police found an older neighbor had gone into the apartment, thinking she heard a noise there. An officer gave the resident some tips for keeping her apartment secure, and police also notified the Council on Aging about the wandering neighbor. At 4:45 p.m. police received several calls about possible gunshots in the Glenview Drive area. Two people were advised to stop shooting there. At 5:51 p.m. on Ayer Road a 39-year-old Ayer resident received a summons for failing to stop at a stop sign, driving an uninsured vehicle, and driving with a suspended registration; the car was towed.
Saturday, Sept. 5
At 9:21 a.m. a 911 caller told police two people were having a loud argument in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot, but both had left when police arrived.
Sunday, Sept. 6
At 6:32 p.m. a car that was apparently going well over the speed limit on Westcott Road hit a rock wall, rolled over, and slid a distance on its roof before coming to a stop. One person was extracted from the overturned car but refused transport to a hospital. The vehicle was towed. At 8:30 p.m. a car went through the stop sign at the intersection of Warren Avenue and Pond Road, and the car rolled onto the sports field there. No one was hurt, but that car was also towed.
Monday, Sept. 7
At 12:22 p.m. a 911 caller told police some young people were jumping off the bridge in the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge at the end of Still River Depot Road. An officer spoke with the youths. At 6:25 p.m. Bolton police asked Harvard officers to watch neighboring roads after a Drumlin Hill Road resident reported juveniles riding bikes and scooters across lawns and doing wheelies. At 6:45 p.m. Bolton police again alerted Harvard officers, this time about someone on a black motorbike doing wheelies on a lawn along Harvard Road in Bolton. At 7:19 p.m. a Westcott Road resident reported receiving threats, and a 30-year-old Ayer resident received a summons as a result.
