Movies for grown-ups. Set in the 1930s, this third and final installment of the Downton Abbey franchise stars Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, and Jim Carter. From 2025, rated PG. At the Harvard Public Library, 4 Pond Road, Monday, Feb. 2, 1 p.m.
Girl Scout Tea. On Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 1 p.m., the Girl Scouts will host a tea at the senior center, with hot tea, cold drinks, and lots of treats.
Movie day at the senior center. The documentary “Every Little Thing,” with wildlife rehabilitator Terry Masear, will be shown Thursday, Feb. 5, 1 p.m., immediately following lunch.
Repair Cafe. On Saturday, Feb. 7, 1 to 3 p.m., volunteer repair experts will be available at the Harvard Senior Center to help make repairs free of charge for small electrical appliances, clothing, furniture, toys, and other broken items.
The Harvard Woman’s Club Valentine’s Tea will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Congregational Church fellowship hall at 5 Still River Road. Help raise funds for scholar awards for graduating seniors. Email hhsiegrist@yahoo.com for reservations.
See “Lives Well Lived” Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1 p.m., with a discussion to follow. The documentary film celebrates older adults living full and meaningful lives in their later years, with stories of perseverance, the human spirit, and staying positive through challenges.
Lunch at The Smoke Shop BBQ. On Thursday, Feb. 12, at 11:30 a.m., enjoy this easygoing Chelmsford restaurant run by award-winning pitmaster Andy Husbands, serving real-deal barbecue, with everything you love.
Posture and health. On Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m., Dr. Mary Evans of Rehabhealth360 in Acton will discuss how good posture gives confidence, eases digestion, builds bone and muscle strength, improves breathing, and helps balance.

Worcester Public Market. On Friday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., visit this dynamic indoor gathering place where food, culture, and community come together. Representing 14 countries, this European-style market offers local vendors, fresh produce, artisanal goods, and specialty foods.
Managing money. A caregiver’s guide to finances. On Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m., the Alzheimer’s Association will deliver an educational presentation with tips for managing someone else’s finances and preparing for future care costs.
Plan ahead for March
- The Bromfield Theater Group will bring the music of “Mamma Mia” Wednesday, March 4, 1 p.m.
- “Elevated: An Orchid Exhibition” at the New England Botanical Gardens, Friday, March 6, 10 a.m.
Anyone interested in a book discussion group should contact Maria at the COA. If there’s sufficient interest, the group will meet Wednesdays at 1 p.m., and will start with the book “Eat Your Ice Cream: 6 Simple Rules For a Long and Healthy Life,” by Ezekiel Emanuel, MD.
Congregate meals are served Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon at the senior center. Meals on wheels can also be arranged.
Weekly grocery shopping. The van to Market Basket in Littleton departs Fridays, 10 a.m.
Fuel assistance is available in a state program open to both homeowners and renters; income limits apply. Assistance is also available through HEAT (Harvard Energy Assistance Team.) Call the COA for help in applying.
Senior center food pantry. The COA has set up a food pantry for Harvard seniors across from the front desk. This is an honor system, so take only what you need. Donations of sealed, unexpired pantry goods (such as canned food, shelf-stable milk, or pasta) may be left with the front desk attendant or an employee.
Sign up for the COA’s storm alert list. When a storm is predicted, the outreach team can call you to see if there is anything you need to be prepared.
Help with computers. Adam is available for one-on-one computer training or anything related to computers or technology. Call the COA (not Adam) for an appointment.
COA van guidelines. There is no fee for the use of the van. To schedule a ride, call the COA; 48 hours’ notice is requested. Wheelchair users must be accompanied by a companion.
