In the past week, police made 25 motor vehicle stops, seven resulting in verbal warnings, 17 in written warnings or citations, and one with no action. Officers also checked on five disabled motor vehicles, made three well-being checks, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Sept. 23
At 10 a.m. a caller requested a well-being check on a Mass. Ave. resident whom the caller had been unable to reach. Police found the resident was in need of medical care, and he was transported by ambulance to a hospital. His dog—which was recently declared dangerous by the Select Board—was taken to a nearby kennel.
Wednesday, Sept. 24
At 8:36 a.m. burglar alarms went off for the garage and basement of a Depot Road home; police found a house cleaner had accidentally set off the alarms.
Thursday, Sept. 25
At 8:58 a.m. state police called to say there was a baby raccoon on the Route 2 off-ramp at Ayer Road, and all units were advised.
Friday, Sept. 26

Saturday, Sept. 27
At 3:19 p.m. a South Shaker Road resident called for advice on how to remove a squirrel that had gotten into the attic; the call was referred to the animal control officer. At 3:37 p.m. Bolton police asked for assistance from Harvard police officers and firefighters after a car crash. Firefighters helped extricate a person from the car, and one person was taken to a hospital by the Bolton ambulance. A 60-year-old Bolton man received a summons from Bolton police for negligent operation of a vehicle, having an open container of alcohol in the car, and violating marked lanes. The driver also received a summons from Harvard police for violating marked lanes and leaving the scene of a crash that caused property damage in Harvard. At 7:15 p.m. Bolton police asked a Harvard officer to search on Stow Road for debris from the man’s car. At 9:07 p.m. a caller complained about a large, noisy gathering on Bolton Road, but police found nothing amiss.
Sunday, Sept. 28
At 8:33 p.m. an Old Shirley Road resident called to say a deer had run into her car on her way home, causing some damage to the vehicle. The deer ran off.
Monday, Sept. 29
At 3:14 a.m. a 911 caller from Depot Road reported being awakened by someone nearby yelling for help. Police searched the area, including Route 2 and the train tracks, but found no one. At 3:09 p.m. police received a report of a missing person and asked the public to be on the lookout for a young man last seen in Boxborough. His cellphone pinged in Rhode Island, but he did not answer calls. His description was entered in the FBI’s National Crime Information Center as a missing person. But shortly afterward, the missing man contacted his family. At 4:35 p.m. a 911 caller reported a large white poodle with a red collar wandering on Bolton Road; the animal control officer was notified. At 7:44 p.m. a young woman on an electric bike knocked at a door on Mass. Ave., saying she had lost her way and needed directions to get home to Leominster; police returned her to her home.
