From Oct. 7 to Oct. 20, the ambulance responded to 25 calls and transported 17 patients to the hospital, five with Harvard’s Advanced Life Support services on board, and seven that required out-of-town paramedics. Ambulance crews responded to five motor vehicle collisions and provided one lift assist.
Wednesday, Oct. 8:
t 5:18 p.m. firefighters had a training session on water supply, which was held at the Boylston fire station.
Thursday, Oct. 9
At 3:15 p.m. firefighters responded to a 911 call about a tree on a power line on West Bare Hill Road, providing scene safety until National Grid shut off the power there. At 6:19 p.m. a heat detector alarm went off at a Mass. Ave. business, but no cause was detected.
Friday, Oct. 10
At 3:46 p.m. a caller reported a car fire on Route 2 westbound; firefighters found a commercial truck with braking issues, but no smoke or fire. At 4:41 p.m. Engine 2 and the tanker were called to assist Lancaster firefighters at a building fire there. A garage and an animal barn were on fire, both of which were completely destroyed. Several horses were rescued, but one had to be euthanized. At 6:37 p.m. an alarm went off at a home on Stow Road; the duty officer found the alarm was defective and advised replacing it.
Saturday, Oct. 11
At 9:09 a.m. a fire alarm went off at the library and was reset. At 3:09 p.m. Engine 2 responded to an alarm on Bolton Road; it had been set off by smoke from cooking.
Monday, Oct. 13
At 12:26 a.m. Engine 4 provided coverage at the Shirley station while Shirley firefighters responded to a motor vehicle fire. At 9:46 a.m. Engines 1 and 2 went to a house on Deerfoot Trail where a carbon monoxide alarm was going off; the alarm was defective. At 11:11 a.m. a fire alarm went off at a house on Harris Lane; the alarm was defective, and the homeowner was advised to replace it.
Tuesday, Oct. 14
At 8:12 p.m. a 911 caller reported some fallen wires were sparking, creating the risk of a brush fire along Ayer Road. Fortunately, firefighters found that rain was extinguishing the fire, and National Grid dealt with the downed wires. At 8:50 p.m. a smoke detector went off at an Old Littleton Road home; the detector was malfunctioning, and the homeowner was advised to replace it.
Wednesday, Oct. 15
At 3:01 p.m., in response to a 911 call, the fire chief and Engine 2 helped emergency medical personnel get into a home on Littleton County Road to offer ambulance transport to a resident; the patient declined transport.
Friday, Oct. 17
At 7:08 p.m. a car collided with a stone wall on Old Littleton Road; Engine 2 responded to the scene, but the ambulance was canceled en route.
Saturday, Oct. 18: At 6:08 p.m. there was a three-car collision on Route 2 eastbound. The ambulance took one person to the hospital, and the crew of Engine 2 cleaned up debris while the tower truck remained nearby in case more help was needed.
Monday, Oct. 20
At 10:08 a.m. Engine 2 and the tower truck went to a crash on Route 2 westbound. The crews cleaned up debris and directed traffic until the car was towed away.
