The Press will be on a break until Aug. 15, but Harvard’s crops will be hard at work growing and ripening. While we’re gone, tomatoes, peppers, and many of their vegetable buddies will be arriving at local stands. Blueberries and summer raspberries will be peaking, and peaches and sweet corn will arrive. Many of the stands keep customers updated on their websites or Facebook pages. We’ll be back in four weeks with the produce 411!

Pick-your-own blueberries. Already-picked blueberries are available in the store, along with the first peaches of the season, cherries, strawberries, and vegetables from Brookdale Fruit Farm in Hollis, New Hampshire. While the Press is on break, more vegetables, including sweet corn from Brookdale Fruit Farm, will be at the store, along with more peach varieties and early apples. Check Facebook for an updated version of what will be available for picking each day.

Pick-your-own blueberries and already-picked blueberries at the stand. Sunflowers will be available soon. Peaches will be ready in late July, and Gravenstein and Ginger Gold apples will be ready for picking in mid-August
Stand and pick-your-own are open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, Tuesday through Saturday, weather permitting.
Good Spirits Farm, 106 East Bare Hill Road
At the self-service farmstand this week: Blueberries, raspberries, kale, snap peas, spinach, turnips, honey, jams, herbal teas and spices, hand creams and salves. Fresh Chip-In Farm eggs in the fridge. Also wildflower bouquets. Dahlias will be coming soon. Special flower arrangements available on request. While the Press is on break, the stand expects to have eggplants, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, tomatillos, kale, and other vegetables and herbs. Ground cherries, blackberries, and peaches will also be available later in the summer.

Old Frog Pond Farm, 38 Eldridge Road
Pick-your-own organic blueberries. At the stand on the porch at the side of the house: blueberry pints and organic mulberries. Also, the farm’s honey, jam, herbal teas, and nettle salt. Peaches and plums will be available in late July.
Pick-your-own is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The farm will post on its website if blueberries sell out and it needs to close the patch until more berries ripen.
Westward Orchards, 178 Massachusetts Avenue, 978-456-8363
Pick-your-own blueberries. Available in the store: Westward’s blueberries, strawberries, sour cherries, lettuce, kale, summer squash, zucchini, broccoli, sugar snap peas, Japanese eggplant, beets, rhubarb, and mixed herbs. Coming up in the next month will be eggplant, beans, peppers, cucumbers, cabbage, peppers, potatoes, and tomatoes, as well as peaches and apricots.
Store is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily; pick-your-own is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
