In the past week, police made eight motor vehicle stops, two resulting in verbal warnings and six in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on a disabled vehicle, issued or renewed a firearm permit, performed a well-being check, and responded to one false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, April 1
At 12:20 a.m. a caller said a fallen tree was blocking most of the road near the intersection of Still River Road and Madigan Lane; an officer was able to pull the tree aside. At 6:20 a.m. someone reported another fallen tree, this one blocking Willard Lane. As that is a private road, residents were responsible for having the obstruction removed; the road was still passable, police said, by pulling onto the shoulder. At 1:55 p.m. a crash was reported on Interstate 495 northbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 4:11 p.m. a Glenview Drive resident called to say a raccoon had gotten into his garage, and he was concerned it might be rabid. An officer went to the house, and the raccoon ran into the woods. At 5:55 p.m. a woman on Still River Depot Road called 911, saying she heard someone walking around her house; an officer checked and found no intruder. At 6:24 p.m. a Littleton Road resident called to say someone had driven over their lawn, leaving tire tracks and destroying some bushes.
Wednesday, April 2
At 3:25 p.m. police were told two dogs were running in and out of traffic on Pinnacle and Old Littleton roads; the animal control officer was called. At 4:24 p.m. a caller told police that cars were driving over some downed wires on Old Shirley Road; Verizon and National Grid were notified. At 5:12 p.m. a 911 caller reported a crash on Route 2 westbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 8:34 p.m. a driver called 911 to say an erratic driver on Route 2 had exited toward Harvard, but the car was not found. At 10:41 p.m. a car hit a pole near the intersection of Ayer and Poor Farm roads, causing the pole to fall across the road. The car rolled over. Ayer police shut down traffic at the rotary, and state police closed the exit from Route 2 onto Ayer Road while three people from the car were taken to the hospital. The driver, a 38-year-old Gardner resident, was issued a summons for negligent operation and violating marked lanes.
Thursday, April 3
At 2:32 a.m. an officer saw a woman wandering in the middle of Ayer Road and tried to stop her, but was not able to locate her again after pulling over. At 10:49 a.m. an officer checked on a car parked at the side of Ayer Road and told the driver to move on because it was not a legal stopping place. At 4:40 p.m. a 911 caller reported a crash on Route 2 westbound.
Friday, April 4
At 11:27 a.m. a woman called asking for assistance in removing belongings from a residence over her husband’s objections; police said it was a civil matter. At 5:45 p.m. Harvard police were called to assist after a driver involved in a hit-and-run on Sugar Road in Bolton fled toward Harvard; the 43-year-old Marlborough woman received a summons for negligent operation, having an open container of alcohol, and failing to drive in the right lane. At 8:06 p.m. an officer checked on a car parked at the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge parking lot and told the occupants to move on.
Saturday, April 5
At 10:22 a.m. an Old Littleton Road resident reported some damage caused by a FedEx delivery van. At 3:49 p.m. someone complained about a forklift truck parked near the intersection of Shaker and South Shaker roads; police located the owner and told him to move it to a safer location.
Sunday, April 6
At 9:45 a.m. a caller told police a wire was down on Warren Avenue; an officer called the Department of Public Works to set up cones in the area, and National Grid was informed. At 5:18 p.m. a woman called to say that, when she went walking on Warren Road, a small dog frequently chased her and tried to nip her. At 6:41 p.m. a caller complained about dirt bikes on Myrick Lane; police said dirt bikes that are registered and insured are legal on public streets. At 6:58 p.m. a Tahanto Trail resident reported losing money to a scam; police said this case was a civil issue.
Monday, April 7
At 9:08 a.m. a Bolton Road resident called to say his cat had been missing since Friday; the animal control officer was notified. At 4:29 p.m. a Slough Road resident called with concerns about a silver Toyota with one occupant that had been parked near his house for an hour. Police found it was a person who worked with a solar company, and he was told he should register with police when he plans to be in the area. At 5:14 p.m. an officer stopped a 45-year-old Maynard woman on Ayer Road near Gebo Lane; she received a summons for driving an uninsured vehicle with a suspended registration.
