In the past week, police made 10 motor vehicle stops, nine resulting in written warnings or citations, and one in no reported result. Officers also checked on a disabled motor vehicle, made a well-being check, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Feb. 18
At 9:29 a.m. a caller reported a dead deer near Prospect Hill Road; the Department of Public Works was notified. At 12:32 p.m. a residential burglar alarm went off at an Old Littleton Road home. Police found an open basement door that led only to a mechanical room. There was no sign of an intruder, and the officers secured the door.
Wednesday, Feb. 19
At 9:58 a.m. someone called to say the walkways at the schools were icy, and the DPW was notified. At 5:42 p.m. a caller said a tractor-trailer that was trying to make a turn on Ayer Road was stuck, blocking traffic, but the truck was gone when police arrived. At 9:04 p.m. a Boxborough resident on Codman Hill Road called 911, saying an unfamiliar man seemed to be following her and waiting by her home; Harvard police responded and searched the area, but the man was gone.
Thursday, Feb. 20
At 11:38 a.m. an employee at Harvard Outdoor Power Equipment called police, saying a man in the store was acting suspiciously. An officer went to the store parking lot and took note of a car with a Florida license plate. When the driver of that car saw the officer, he made a phone call, and the person inside came out. They drove off and were next reported at a store in Connecticut. At 3:37 p.m. someone came to the police station to report a case of larceny or fraud. At 4:14 p.m. a Littleton Road resident called 911, asking for help with a dog that had shown up at his home; the animal control officer was notified.
Friday, Feb. 21
At 1:36 p.m. a 911 caller complained about a car that had been speeding on Old Littleton Road.
Saturday, Feb. 22
At 8:47 a.m. a 911 caller expressed concern about a wandering King Charles spaniel wearing a sweater on Willow Road; the dog seemed to be trying to cross the pond, and the animal control officer was alerted. At 11:04 a.m. Harvard police were called to a disturbance at the gas station on Mass. Ave. in Boxborough. Apparently, one man had cut in front of the other in the line to the gas pumps, and a fight ensued. Only one of the combatants was still on the scene when police arrived.
Sunday, Feb. 23
At 12:05 p.m. a 911 caller reported someone on Old Littleton Road had thrown ice and snow from his driveway into the street. An officer told the offender that doing so was against a town bylaw. The man apologized, saying he was new in town, and cleared the snow.
Monday, Feb. 24
