The Ambulance Service responded to five calls and transported one patient to the hospital; Advanced Life Support services were not on board. The ambulance responded to two motor vehicle crashes. No one needed a lift assist.
Sunday, Jan. 19
At 7:13 a.m. firefighters were called to a crash on Route 2 eastbound. At 11:01 p.m. they were called to a one-car crash near the intersection of Oak Hill and Cleaves Hill roads; no one was injured, but the car required a tow. Just a minute later, at 11:02 p.m. Engine 2 responded to a rollover at the intersection of Pinnacle Road and Park Lane; one person refused ambulance transport. And at 11:22 p.m. there was another one-car crash on Stow Road.
Monday, Jan. 20
At 4:40 a.m. a carbon monoxide detector was set off at a Warren Avenue residence; there was a chimney problem that required several trips by firefighters over most of the day to resolve. At 8:43 a.m. a smoke detector went off at a home on Old Shirley Road; Engine 2 went to the scene, but firefighters could find no cause for the alarm. At 1:46 p.m. the carbon monoxide detector went off at a Blanchard Road residence. The duty officer found levels of carbon monoxide in the house and called for Engine 2. Firefighters removed a pile of burning wood from the fireplace, which was not adequately ventilated.
Tuesday, Jan. 21
At 7:41 a.m. Engine 2 was called to a minor crash on Route 2 eastbound; the crew cleared debris. At 7:17 p.m. the duty officer responded to a smoke alarm at a Slough Road home and found the cause was burned food.
Wednesday, Jan. 22
At 11:50 a.m. a fire alarm was chirping at a Lancaster County Road home; the duty officer found the detector had expired and needed to be replaced.
Thursday, Jan. 23
At 8:45 a.m. Engine 2 was called to a one-car crash on Route 2 eastbound but the call was canceled en route.
Sunday, Jan. 26
At 12:53 p.m. Engine 4 went for mutual aid to cover for the Lancaster Fire Department, while Lancaster crews helped fight a fire in Leominster.
Monday, Jan. 27
At 9:23 a.m. a 911 caller reported someone had fallen through the ice on Bare Hill Pond about 150 feet from shore. A couple was walking on the pond when the ice gave way, and the woman’s leg became stuck up to her knee in the mud beneath. Crews from Engine 2 and the forestry truck were able to extricate her safely. At 5:31 p.m. Engines 2 and 4 assisted Bolton firefighters in extinguishing a car fire on Interstate 495 southbound.
