In the past week, police made nine motor vehicle stops, four resulting in verbal warnings and five in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on a disabled vehicle, dealt with one parking violation, and responded to a false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, Oct. 1
At 7:54 p.m. a Still River Road resident called to say he had not seen his two children for the past two hours. Police urged him to check throughout the house; an officer went to the address, and both children were located indoors.
Wednesday, Oct. 2
At 5:33 p.m. a caller reported a fence had fallen down at the playground on Lancaster County Road. The child who had been climbing on it had scrapes and bruises but had refused medical treatment and left the area. An officer went to the playground and filed a report on the damage.
Thursday, Oct. 3
At 8:19 p.m. a 911 caller told police a woman at a home on Simon Atherton Row was making suicidal statements. An officer went to the scene and concluded the issue was a verbal argument; the woman refused transport for medical care.
Friday, Oct. 4
At 2:53 p.m. an officer made an unsuccessful attempt to serve a restraining order at a Simon Atherton Row residence; a second attempt at 5:02 p.m. was successful. At 6:21 p.m. an officer followed up with a phone call.
Saturday, Oct. 5
At 11:20 a.m. someone called to report the theft of a political sign from a Littleton Road residence. At 1:42 p.m. a caller said a child might have been hit by a car on Littleton Road. When police arrived, a passerby said it was a deer that had been hit; there was no sign of the animal. At 2:24 p.m. someone called to say a trailer parked on Still River Road was a traffic hazard; police had the owner move it. At 2:26 p.m. a Mass. Ave. resident reported a possible case of identity theft. At 10:18 p.m. police notified a Pine Hill Way resident of a probation warrant.
Sunday, Oct. 6
At 12:48 p.m. an Uber driver called 911, very alarmed at the way a black SUV was tailgating her. Police advised her to pull over and note the license plate number, but she was unable to get the number.
Monday, Oct. 7
At 11:02 a.m. someone phoned, saying she had spoken with a friend on Simon Atherton Row who had expressed fear at being alone; the caller asked police to do a well-being check. An officer went to the house and found all was well. At 2:34 p.m. an employee at Town Hall called to say a woman in the lobby there was acting strange and claimed to be seeking a marriage license; an officer drove the woman to Clinton to go to the courthouse there. At 6:05 p.m. an officer spotted a battered Chevy pickup on Elm Street; it was missing a tire and had no plates. When the officer checked, it turned out the vehicle belonged to the Harvard Fire Department, which planned to use it for training. At 7:14 p.m. a Mass. Ave. resident called 911, saying headlights from a car were lighting up the caller’s yard, and the car might have been involved in a crash; an officer found there had been no crash. At 7:59 p.m. an officer attempted to serve a summons for a civil matter at a Simon Atherton Row residence but was unable to do so.
