The Select Board voted 5-0 Monday night to offer Dan Nason the position of town administrator.

Nason is Sudbury’s director of public works, a position he has held for nearly eight years. He has a background in civil engineering and management and won several awards for his work.

Nason was the first choice of all five members of the select board, “a choice that surprised a lot of us,” said Select Board Chair Don Ludwig in summing up Nason’s qualifications. The town’s biggest challenges are public works challenges, Charles Oliver noted in his comments, adding that Nason’s collaborative style would fit the needs of employees, volunteers, and residents well.

Monday's vote authorizes Ludwig to negotiate a contract with Nason and bring it before the Select Board for final approval.
