Remove invasive plants
Join the Land Stewardship Subcommittee of the Conservation Commission in removing invasive plants Saturday, June 1, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Clapp-Scorgie conservation land. Meet in the field off Turner Lane where the trail enters the woods. Rain date is Sunday, June 2.
Work will involve digging and pulling out plants by the roots and cutting vines and branches. Bring work gloves and weeding devices, trowels or pointed shovels, clippers, loppers, or pruning saws. There will be extra tools on hand. Boots are helpful, and be prepared for ticks, bugs, and poison ivy. Plants to be removed include garlic mustard, bittersweet, barberry, buckthorn, bush honeysuckle, privet, multiflora rose, and black swallowwort. Irish music at Fivesparks
The trio Fódhla will bring Irish traditional music to Fivesparks, 7 Fairbank St., Saturday, June 1, 7:30 p.m. Admission is by freewill offering; suggested amounts are $20-25 for adults and $10-15 for teens and seniors. Reserve a seat by emailing notloBreservations@gmail.com.
Food truck and craft festival
Join for a day of fun Saturday, June 1, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Verbeck Field, Antietam Street, Devens. Enjoy food trucks, craft vendors, live musical performances, cornhole, and more. No pets. Rain date Sunday, June 2.
CD release celebration
David Pihl, pianist, and local musician Steve Peisch will celebrate the release of their CD featuring Peisch’s piano music Sunday, June 2, 4 p.m., at Fivesparks, 7 Fairbank St. Pihl will play selections on a fine piano. Refreshments will be served, followed by a pizza party upstairs at the Harvard General Store.
Stories from Clinton Shores
The Harvard Historical Society will present “History and Stories from Clinton Shores” Sunday, June 9, at 2 p.m. at the meetinghouse, 215 Still River Road. Special guests will share old photos and stories that recreate a century of life in this unique community on Bare Hill Pond. Following the presentation will be a barbecue on the grounds of the society. The cost for the program and barbecue is $15 per person, and registration is necessary. Introduction to Zen Buddhist meditation
Linda Shinji Hoffman will conduct an introduction to Zen Buddhist meditation Monday, June 10, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Old Frog Pond Farm & Studio, 38 Eldridge Road. Learn about posture, breath, how to hold awareness, and what to do as thoughts arise. After this introduction, there will be a guided meditation that will move participants into silence followed by an opportunity for questions.There is no charge for this offering, but there will be a donation basket at the door. Nuclear fusion at Devens
Jessica Strunkin of Commonwealth Fusion Systems will speak about the development of nuclear fusion and the work of CFS at Devens Wednesday, June 12, 7 p.m., at the Harvard Senior Center, 16 Lancaster County Road. Come hear about this safe, clean, and unlimited power source and the progress toward commercial fusion energy. There will be a Q&A session after the talk. Hosted by the Harvard Republican Town Committee. All are welcome.

ShirleyArts! festival
ShirleyArts! will host ShirleyFest on the Shirley Center Common, Saturday June 1, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy a day of entertainment and kids’ activities, shop the crafts tables, and take aim at the dunk tank. Local nonprofit organizations will have information booths and sell lunch.
Concord Museum garden tour
The Concord Museum presents its 35th annual garden tour Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. This year’s tour features six stunning private gardens in Concord, from a manicured garden with cultivated flower beds, to a Japanese-inspired garden, to a unique jewel of a low-maintenance garden (with no grass!), with many rare plants along the way. All proceeds support the Concord Museum’s vital education initiatives. Register at concordmuseum.org.
Recognizing Loaves & Fishes volunteers
The Loaves & Fishes food pantry will commemorate 40 years of operation with an open house to honor all the people who have ever donated, volunteered, or worked with Loaves & Fishes. It will be held Tuesday, June 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dirigible Brewing Company, 24 Porter Road, Littleton. Smoke Show’s barbecue will be available for purchase, as will beer and nonalcoholic drinks, with $1 from every drink going to Loaves & Fishes. The event features door prizes, a raffle, and a silent auction. Plan to attend, and bring a friend.
