The annual Town Election will be held Tuesday, April 9, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., in the Bromfield School cafeteria. Residents will cast their vote for five positions: Select Board, moderator, library trustee, School Committee, and Warner Free Lecture trustee. Additionally, there will be two questions on the ballot, one regarding a DPW building project, and the other regarding a budget override.
Each candidate elected will serve a three-year term. Voters are to choose two candidates for the positions of Harvard Public Library trustee, Warner Free Lecture trustee, and School Committee and one candidate for Select Board and moderator. The only contested race is the one for moderator, between Brad Besse and Bill Barton, the latter being the incumbent.
To get on the ballot, candidates had to pick up nomination papers from the town clerk’s office, which were to be filled out by Feb. 20. No candidates filed nomination papers for the position of Warner Free Lecture trustee.
There are some candidates not on the ballot who are mounting write-in campaigns for Tuesday’s election. Billy Salter and Steve Peisch are both write-in options for Warner Free Lecture trustee. Both Salter and Peisch currently sit as trustees, although their terms expire on June 30. Laurie Wright Lingham is running as a write-in candidate for library trustee. Lingham pulled, but did not complete, her nomination papers, leaving her off of the ballot. Lingham is a recently retired librarian.
