The Ambulance Service responded to five calls and transported five patients to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services on board. The ambulance responded to two vehicle crashes. One person needed a lift assist.
Tuesday, March 26
At 6:04 a.m. a carbon monoxide alarm went off at an Ayer Road residence. The duty officer checked the house, found no carbon monoxide present, and determined the alarm was at the end of its life. A little later, at 7:39 a.m., the alarm went off again, and the duty officer advised the homeowner to replace it. At 11:15 a.m. some heavy machinery on Partridge Hill Road sprang a leak in its hydraulic system, spilling about 40 gallons of hydraulic fluid on the road. The Department of Public Works spread sand on the spill, and the fire chief informed the state Department of Environmental Protection. At 3:47 p.m. the fire chief and Engines 2 and 4 responded to a car fire on the Route 2 offramp. The car was fully enveloped in flame, but the driver had escaped safely. Engine 2 put out the car fire and also the grass that caught fire on the roadside, while Engine 4 protected the scene.
Thursday, March 28
At 10:11 a.m. Engine 2 was called to assist at the rollover collision on Ayer Road. Firefighters assisted with patient care and scene cleanup.
Saturday, March 30
At 12:27 p.m. the duty officer responded to a 911 call reporting smoke along Ayer Road; the smoke was left over from a permitted fire earlier in the day.
Sunday, March 31
At 8:12 p.m. Engines 2 and 4 went to the crash scene on Route 2 westbound to provide scene safety.
