The Ambulance Service responded to 12 calls and transported seven patients to the hospital, one with Advanced Life Support services on board. The ambulance responded to three vehicle crashes.
Tuesday, April 9
At 10:34 a.m. the Fire Department was called to Bare Hill Pond, where a boat’s fuel tank was leaking inside the boat. Firefighters plugged the leak and cleaned up the spilled fuel within the boat; no fuel had gone into the pond.
Wednesday, April 10
At 5:35 a.m. firefighters were called to assist with a vehicle fire in Devens (see story on this page).
Thursday, April 11
At 6:39 p.m. Engine 2 went to the scene of a collision on Route 2 westbound and helped remove debris. At 9:10 p.m. a 911 caller reported a vehicle fire on Interstate 495 southbound; fire departments from Harvard, Bolton, and Boxborough were all called, but all units were canceled because no fire was found. A second, unrelated call at 10:32 p.m. to a medical emergency on Interstate 495 southbound was also canceled.
Friday, April 12
At 541 a.m. Engine 2 responded to a crash on Route 2 eastbound to provide traffic control for the Littleton ambulance crew.
Saturday, April 13
At 12:59 p.m. a 911 caller reported a vehicle fire on Interstate 495 southbound. Firefighters from Harvard, Bolton, and Boxborough all responded. Construction debris that was being hauled in a trailer had caught fire. Harvard’s Engine 2 helped extinguish the blaze. Less than an hour later, at 1:48 p.m. Engine 2’s crew was called out again, along with the tower truck and the Ambulance Service, for a medical emergency at Fruitlands. Someone had fallen on the trails there and called 911. Search crews located the patient, who was taken to a hospital. At 4:25 p.m. another 911 call about a vehicle fire on Interstate 495 proved to be unfounded.
Monday, April 15
At 3:32 p.m. a carbon monoxide detector went off at a Tahanto Trail home; the duty officer found the detector had expired and advised the homeowner to replace it.
