The Council on Aging offices and the town’s senior center are located at 16 Lancaster County Road. To participate in classes, events, or programs listed here—or to ask questions about any COA service—call 978-456-4120.

The COA reminds those in neighboring towns they are welcome to take part in many of its programs and events; just call to sign up and to see if there is enough space.


Mahjong basics will be taught Wednesdays, March 6 and 13, at 1 p.m. Free; limit eight participants. Google “How to play American mahjong” ahead of time to get started.


Breakfast is served at Tatlista By the Brook restaurant, Shirley, Thursday, March 7, at 9 a.m.


Singing group meets Thursdays, March 7 and 21, at 10:30 a.m. Peter McArdle leads this sing-along.


Movie Day takes place Thursday, March 7, at 1 p.m. Lunch served at noon, followed by “Around the World in 80 Days,” with Shirley MacLaine.


Grief support group meets Monday, March 11, at 2 p.m. Share experiences and learn about the grieving process with a grief counselor.


St. Patrick’s Day lunch takes place Tuesday, March 12, at noon. Traditional corned beef dinner.


Memory Cafė, Wednesday, March 13, 10:30 a.m. For those with dementia and their caregivers. A safe environment in which to socialize and talk with others faced with similar issues.


Well adult clinic and blood pressure check. Keep an eye on your health Tuesday, March 19, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A nurse will be available to answer questions.


Jazz in Worcester. The Daniel Bennett Group will play at Mechanics Hall, Wednesday, March 20, at 10:45 a.m. Free; bag lunch provided; van fee $5.


Podiatry clinic. On Friday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a podiatrist will be on hand to trim nails and treat corns and calluses. $40 for a 15-minute appointment.


Movies for grownups. “Past Lives,” will be shown at the library, 4 Pond Road, Monday, March 25, at 1 p.m.


Pysanky eggs. Harvard’s Judy Loya leads a talk on this European painting technique, Tuesday, March 26, at 1 p.m.


Museum trip. On Wednesday, March 27, at 9:30 a.m., there will be a trip to the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton. This visit to the only craft museum in New Eng-land will be followed by lunch at Yamato Japanese Steakhouse. Museum admission free; van fee $5; bring lunch money.


“Coffee With a Cop.” Have coffee and conversation with town police officers, Monday, April 1, 9:30 a.m. at the senior center.


Outreach programs available. The COA offers home-delivered meals, visits, phone and wellness checks, social services, chore group, and other services; call for more information.


Books at home. Call the library at 978-456-4114 or email reference@harvardpubliclibrary.org to have books delivered to your home.


Fuel assistance applications are now being accepted. Gross income limits are $45,392 for a household of one and $59,359 for a household of two. The town also offers HEAT (Harvard Energy Assistance Team) financial help. Call to learn more.


Help with computers. Adam and Doug are available for one-on-one computer training or anything related to computers or technology. Call for an appointment on Tuesdays and Fridays, or browse through their online computer resource center at sites.google.com/view/hcoa-lab.


COA van guidelines. Fees for the use of the van vary according to destination; payment in exact change is expected at the time of a ride. To schedule a ride, call the COA; 48 hours’ notice is requested. The van is disinfected daily and between riders. When there are four or more riders, masks are required.


Fitness classes. Fitness classes are offered online via Zoom and in person.

  • Aerobics and weight-strengthening: Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 to 10 a.m., via Zoom. $36 per 12-class session. Join at any time and the fee will be prorated.
  • Line dancing resumes Monday, March 11, 10:15 a.m. via Zoom. $4 per class.
  • Zumba gold: Tuesdays, 4:30 p.m. $5 per class. At the Harvard Senior Center.
  • Yoga for everybody: Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. in person at the Congregational Church, 5 Still River Road, and via Zoom. $48 per six-week session; $10 for drop-ins. All in-person attendees must show proof of vaccination.
  • Tai chi: Thursdays, 9 a.m. $25/month, $7/class. At the Congregational Church.

  • Grocery shopping: The van leaves at 10 a.m. on Fridays for Market Basket in Littleton. $2 per person.
