The committees that oversee the health and welfare of Bare Hill Pond are to be commended for their work on a possible solution for the horrendous weeds that have made the pond unswimmable and unusable these past years. However, there is no mention of attending to the problem in other areas than the town beach.
What of the people and owners who border the shore elsewhere on the pond? They deserve to be equally considered for weed mitigation in their areas of the pond. Some of these owners are Harvard residents and therefore are able to have their voices heard at town meetings, whether they be committee meetings or whole town gatherings. The people who are part-time residents seem to have no ability to voice their concerns and preferences. All of these owners are invested in the welfare of the pond. All of these owners are taxpayers. All of these owners need to be allowed a forum where all can be heard and their enjoyment of their property equally considered.
A Band-Aid approach to one area is not a long-term solution.
