In the past week, police made five motor vehicle stops, two resulting in verbal warnings and three in written warnings or citations. Officers also made seven well-being checks, issued or renewed two firearm permits, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Jan. 9
At 7:52 a.m. a driver called 911 after her Jeep slid off Pinnacle Road; the car required a tow. At 8:19 an Ayer Road resident asked for police help in getting a man to leave the house after a domestic dispute. At 12:10 p.m. someone turned in a garage door remote control; it had been found near the intersection of Warren Avenue and Tahanto Trail. At 6:35 p.m. police notified the Department of Public Works that roads throughout town were becoming slick. At 6:52 p.m. a driver whose car was stuck on Mass. Ave. called 911; police notified the state highway division. At 7:35 p.m. more iciness on roads was reported to the DPW.
Wednesday, Jan. 10
At 12:33 a.m. a car ran into a guard rail on Route 2 westbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 11:19 a.m. a blocked storm drain caused extensive flooding of Ayer Road. At 3:30 p.m. an officer helped a motorist who was trying to open the hood of their car.
Thursday, Jan. 11
At 1:36 p.m. an officer advised a resident on filing a report about harassment. At 5:54 p.m. a caller reported a driver who was weaving from lane to lane and who had just crossed the town line into Ayer; Ayer police were alerted. At 8:03 p.m. a Bolton Road resident called police with suspicions about a person ringing her doorbell; however, it was a meal-delivery person who had accidentally left the wrong order a few minutes earlier and was trying to correct the mistake.
Friday, Jan. 12
At 5:01 p.m. a Park Lane resident called to report a missing dog, but the pet returned safely a little later.
Saturday, Jan. 13
At 8:06 a.m. flooding was again blocking a section of Ayer Road, and the DPW was alerted. At 4:38 p.m. an officer saw a tree had fallen onto electric lines along Pond Road, and National Grid was notified.
Sunday, Jan. 14
At 6:49 p.m. police called the DPW about flooding on South Shaker Road. A few minutes later, at 6:56 p.m., the DPW was also called about a fallen tree on Ann Lees Road.
Monday, Jan. 15
At 3:11 a.m. a 911 call brought officers to a Bolton Road residence, where they used medical treatment and CPR to save the life of a man who had overdosed; he was then taken to a hospital. At 3:24 p.m. a caller reported icy road conditions near the intersection of Stow and Westcott roads. At 7:11 p.m. a child custody disagreement brought police to a Woodside Road home; the couple was advised to resolve the dispute through civil court.
